Nice effort to add more names, but Stephen Fleming wouldn't even make the top 10 NZ ODI batsmen

Ponting's fielding alone would be worth an extra 5-10 runs on his batting average compared to most of his competition
Sachin - useful bowler.
Viv - useful bowler + ponting category fielder
Abdv - part time WK and great fielder
Bevan - useful bowler

Then there is Dhoni .

Ponting , Lara and Kohli suffers from this argument.

I don't see how this is relevant to my comment at all.

Also Bevan was not a useful bowler in ODIs. His use was limited to occasionally buying wickets caught at deep midwicket from long hops and full-tosses.

Ponting's fielding definitely in the class of Symonds and ABDV, just gets overshadowed by how great a batsman he was.

Lara probably the most 'useless' of all the great batsmen I suppose. Sanga kept, Sachin bowled, Viv was a legit AR at times, Bevan bowled, Dhoni kept, ABDV did everything. Dean Jones and Zaheer Abbas a bit one dimensional too I suppose.

Yeah Jones was great. He dived everywhere and had a strong arm from the deep. I dont specifically remember him being an exceptional catcher, but top run saver.

Why do you think Ponting is overrated?
Because I haven't seen him consistently dominating over a long period , despite playing in by far the best team in the world.
Viv , Sachin , top order Lara , Bevan , Dhoni , ABdV and Kohli had phenomenal stats. Ponting numbers never been extra ordinary. No way he can be an all-time top 5.

I mean, orders kind of important

But I'll allow it coz it shakes up the status quo
I'll order it - didn't want you to think I'd forgotten - Greg Chappell a particular problem - never liked him, but he was bloody good when ODIs started

Did you copy and paste the wrong Indian? I don’t think even Kapil’s granny would make him a top 20 historical batsman. Sachin’s granny might demand a recount.
