this for me is very shocking indeed.
Come to think of it, he does not have a single West indian fast bowler in the three teams and there are at least nine of them in there BESIDES Sobers, Miller and Botham and I dont think we can say Sobers is there as a fast bowler. :)

M Marshall

So there we have it the cricket web all time test XI.

I Khan would probably skipper the side I would say.
So not one bowler from the first 90 years of Test cricket was good enough to make the team? I would think Bradman would be the captain, never lost a series he was in charge of.

Bradman might not've lost a series, but Imran IMO was one of the best ever captains in cricket, in terms of motivation and strategy. Record of a captain is largely irrelevant to guaging how good a captain is, considering that the record is based on the performance of a whole team. Mark Taylor ( who i rate as an excellent captain) would have a far worse record than Ponting ( who i rate as a pretty poor captain) if he played for Zimbabwe.

even more shocking, at least Marshall & Ambrose should have been considered.

I thought it was interesting Benaud didn't have one of the top West Indian fast bowlers in his first XI, but the fact that he doesn't have them in his first 33 is quite odd actually, and I'm very surprised.

Methinks his ego got in the way ;) I mean, why admit that you faced far lesser bowlers to the Windies pace battery ?

You mean Benaud? Or did Bradders do a similar thing?

A 2nd XI would be great although I won't be able to run it straight away as I am going away over Christmas. I also want to do an ODI team. Someone else is welcome to run one of the above though if they can do so.
A bit dispointed that Murali didn't make the first XI, but i guess everyone went for the extra batting and extra quick which is fair enough. I'll start the ODI XI if you want, i missed out on the Test one cus i was away. :(

So if thats ok, then we will start with the openers.

I'll begin with my picks.

1. Adam Gilchrist
2. Sachin Tendulkar

So many great layers miss out...I think you could easily form another X1 that is just as strong....

It would include players like (for example) : Mcgrath, Dravid, Ambrose, Akram, Murali etc......

Ok we will start an ODI XI now I think.

Voting for the 2 opening positions ends this time tomorrow.

Current side

We will have a super sub as well.

This time around when you are voting, nominate the person you want to captain the side as well. Votes will only count for the person if they make the final XI.

For example, for the first round say you are voting for Dennis Ebriham and Adam Gilchrist. If one of those two players happens to be the player you believe would make the best captain just put a (c) next to their name.

Sachin Tendulkar
Brian Lara

I got this idea from TEC which IMO makes good sense, obviously Tendulkar should be their since he is arguably the best OD batsman of all-time & Lara has his best stats as an opener with 2166 in 51 innings @ 47.08 with 5 centuries & 15 50's so he practically flourished their & it would be great to see these 2 wonderful attacking batsmen going out to open in a OD game.

gilchrist is the clear choice for wicketkeeper, so Sachin Tendulkar and Adam Gilchrist.
(in mind, i've got lara, richards, ponting(c), bevan coming up)

tendulkar and Saeed anwar
saeed is obviously very underrated batsman...so i dont think many would agree to my choice....but he has 3rd most odi 100s and record for highest odi score... dat 2 when supersub rule wasnt there.... so my vote goes to saeed

I will take Sachin and Gilly for me. Having Gilly as an allrounder will enable the side to carry another specialist or a bowling allrounder.
