Sachin Tendulkar
Brian Lara

I got this idea from TEC which IMO makes good sense, obviously Tendulkar should be their since he is arguably the best OD batsman of all-time & Lara has his best stats as an opener with 2166 in 51 innings @ 47.08 with 5 centuries & 15 50's so he practically flourished their & it would be great to see these 2 wonderful attacking batsmen going out to open in a OD game.
I allways thought this would make a good opening combination. Glad to know someone else thinks so too. So to clarify, I'm voiting for Sachin and Lara.

tendulkar and Saeed anwar
saeed is obviously very underrated batsman...so i dont think many would agree to my choice....but he has 3rd most odi 100s and record for highest odi score... dat 2 when supersub rule wasnt there.... so my vote goes to saeed
I agree that Saeed Anwar deserves more respect than he gets as an ODI opener... but... Sachin Tendulkar and Gordon Greenidge for me.

Many people forget just how good an ODI player Greenidge was.

5134 runs @ 45.03
11 hundreds
31 fifties
He passed fifty roughly every 3 innings... more often than Tendulkar.

I wish he'd open more often these days. He scored a neat 58 against New Zealand the last time he did. Granted, Shivnarine Chanderpaul is also an excellent foil for Gayle at the top of the order. IMO either Lara or Chanderpaul should be opening the batting, and if it's Chanders, Lara should be in at one drop. Sarwan is a better finisher than anyone bar Lara/Chanderpaul in that side. He's done well down the order.

That could work pretty well if Bravo can convert his Test Batting form into ODIs. IMO he could be a very good No 5 in ODIs.

ID vote for SRT and Gordon Greenidge
Interesting you went for Greenidge when his old mate Haynes was regarded as the slightly better ODI player and Greenidge was considered the better test batsmen.

Has to be Sachin and Gilly for me, particurlarly as Gilly up the order immediately adds depth to the team with the W.K taken care of with a specialist batsmen.

special mention for Anwar whose batting i had a lot of time for

I would have voted Sachin and Gilchrist ordinarily, but Sachin and Lara sounds so tempting...

Sachin and Lara.

Greenidge had more centuries and a better average.

Sachin and Lara. Go to hell, bowlers. :D
LOL! I'm definitely up for that. Those two batsman coming out first to bat with the field up would just be absolutely devastating!

Sachin & Lara for me.

Lara was 5 people's choice to partner him, but the winner is Gilchrist who got 8 votes.
