I'd have Botham in every single time, because he's a legend in the literal sense of the word. The old fogies of 2020 England (the year, not the game) will undoubtedly hark back to the days of Botham routing the crims with bleary eyes, moaning about how none of today's new-fangled cricketers hold a candle to him.

Leaving aside wins against Bang and Zim and keeping 3 scores of 50+ and 3 hauls of 4 wickets + as minimum requirement statsguru threw up close to 50 names. i chose genuine all-rounders from that list and came up with this.

Thanks for that, a very interesting list. I think that this puts Botham's performances into perspective a bit though. The records shown by this list are without exception, er, exceptional. Fittingly, it's hard to choose between Hadlee, Botham, Kapil and Imran. And there are some other extraordinary figures from Miller, Grieg, Sobers - pretty much all of them in fact.

Tony Greig was an underrated player wasn't he.

Tremendous stats in wins for big Tony who looked terrific today in his pink hat. :smile1:

Great work Bagapath, I took the liberty of sorting out stats of players who are usually discussed on these boards and using code to make it more readable.

Cricket has really been blessed by some fantastic all-around performers.

Those are exceptional figures. He really seems to have been under-rated.

A differential exercise, comparing bowling and batting averages (and perhaps catching) in wins to overall figures would be interesting, I think.
