Haha yessssssss. Genuinely some feat to get 9th on that list, especially in this era of slow over rates, the sidelining of FC cricket, and batters' increased impatience. Good stuff from Wiaan Mulder with 200 runs in the match (on the losing team also). Must be a plethora of records in this also:

Anyone got stats on hand for the most runs conceded by the 7th least expensive bowler in a FC innings? :p

Northeast now has a FC average of over 40. Still two years younger than Dawid Malan. Maybe a callup isn't that crazy.

Hampshire's superior bowling attack paying dividends again at Scarborough, where the hosts are 33 for 6. Probably worth making other plans for Day 3. At The Oval, Surrey may end up regretting giving Sibley two lives so far.

Kyle Abbott didn't take long to polish off the remains of the Yorkshire innings this morning; 159 ao, including one partnership of 116. If my sums are correct, the other 9 wickets managed a grand total of 43 runs.

Ryan Patel showing why Surrey have signed Dom Sibley to come back to The Oval next season. Second over of the innings, 3 boundaries from the first four balls of Norwell's first over, and then hit the next ball straight to the bloke at cover. Silly boy.

Ryan Patel is one hell of a name tho. Hope he succeeds
Likewise. He started the season pretty well, having previously struggled to establish himself as a regular starter in the side. But his returns have tailed off again in recent weeks, although he did play a handy knock in the 4th innings chase against Essex last week. I still think he'll bat at 3 next year and that they'll release Amla.

EDIT
And there's the latest evidence that Amla isn't as good as he once was. Still very good against spinners, but less than adhesive against the quicker bowlers, which is something of a disadvantage when you're batting at 3. Maybe it's a bit harsh to describe him as a waste of money this year. But it wouldn't be entirely inaccurate.

The ball is doing loads there today. Woakes would have been a massive problem for the Surrey batters, not that his team mates are doing badly. Warwickshire are right in this game actually.

Ollie Robinson resurfacing in the Championship this round, seems to have started well. Hope his return sticks this time.

Elsewhere, Compton's form seems to have sadly dropped off. Which in a way is probably good news for his opening partner Crawley ...who also got a duck.

Yup, let's hope that Robinson is properly fit again. He's a genuinely good bowler and I still think England will need him before long. Perhaps the most surprising thing about Crawley's duck today is that it lasted 27 scoreless deliveries.

Spent a pleasant day at Cheltenham watching Glos vs Northants and feeling like a second-class citizen because we weren't in one of the endless hospitality tents or the vast members' area. The standard of cricket was pretty good on the whole, though Northants should have done more to press home their advantage. David Payne looked a tad rusty, Zak Chappell bowled fast from a great height yet somehow rarely looked threatening, Ryan Higgins was unlucky and Zafar Gohar bowled well. Will Young batted effortlessly and it was a surprise when he got out. Ryan Rickelton played another excellent knock and hit one ball over the stand and into the road.

Was at Cheltenham last week and have spent the last two days in Scarborough. Can't really think of two more different places to watch cricket in the UK. Plenty of rain at both though.

I'm just impressed that you got your wife to agree to your idea for this summer's family holiday.

Oh she didn't attend. I just happen to get quite a lot more holiday. There was a somewhat unsuccessful family trip to York before Scarborough though, it rained, quite a bit. My Dad was at both though, still absolutely revelling in this retirement business as if it never occurred to him before that he could go to cricket whenever he wanted.
