Brett Lee Making History

after the 3rd final against Sri Lanka he became only the 10th bowler in the history of cricket to take more then 700 international wickets

I find this depressing for at least two reasons:

1) The usual slight feeling of "he's good, but not that good" that lingers when second or third tier talents like him or Harbhajan achieve a milestone that some immortals didn't.

2) The adding of all international wickets and runs together regardless of format is the work of Beelzeub.

lee's 12 away from breaking McGrath's Aus' ODI wickets record. could be a pretty good poll. i'm going with lee.

Lee has always been an ATG ODI bowler. It's only at test level that he was inferior to other greats. I have no problem with him getting this record. It's a huge testament to his fitness and work ethic that he was able to be so quick and dangerous (at least at ODI level) for so long.

I agree. I never would've thought that Lee would last this long which is a credit to him. He's now our last ODI player left from the Steve Waugh era I think - in fact, even from the 2003 WC?

if Steve Waugh didnt say to Lee 'i want you to scare batsmen with your speed so bowl bouncers and then a yorker every now and again' he could of been a much better bowler at test level.

but i still think he was alot better then some people give him credit for

shut it ****
:-O

You blow your father with that mouth?

Lee's putative ATG status as an ODI bowler notwithstanding, at his best he was a good to very good test bowler, but the enthusiastic reporting of cricketers passing/nearing these landmarks that none of us even knew existed & one suspects have been invented for the occasion (Sachin's 100th international 100, etc) is likely to devalue actual landmarks.

Only didn't exist because no one got there until recent times, ftr. People have been adding up Sachin's tally of hundreds long before he was anywhere near 100 anyway.
