The lunatic in me wants Shakur v Haney to see how dull it can be, absolute stinker from haney tonight.

Good solid if unmemorable win from Teo, but ****ing hell Garcia back on the drugs please, tks.

Nobody serious should be losing to Rolly ffs.

And then Canelo entered the chat
What a truly wretched fight that was.

Scull just ran and was content to get paid , although Canelo didn't look great either sadly.

Overall these 2 nights were very poor despite the names involved, both had little atmosphere and sfa drama.

Yeah the Rolly fight was an upset but it was a dull fight. I suppose the "highlight" was the Bakole fight and yeah he needs to get his act together, its all well and good having huge power but he's to damn fat.

Yeah, Bakole very lucky to sneak away with the draw. While I thought he clearly won 4 rounds, he also very clearly lost the other 6. Re his weight, I'm not surprised he came in at 299 after being 310 a couple of months ago. The big problem was ever letting himself blow up to that size in the first place.

I didn't watch the fight but I was bemused to see him talking about "if I had a full camp..."

Errr, this fight was signed in january, this was not a late notice fight. He had plenty of time for a training camp.

Why as a professional athlete paid now in the millions of dollars are you not in shape year round?

No "let that fight marinate" no "he needs to fight that guy" just straight to the best guys in the division and pure aggression.

He's the best pure offensive boxer since Pacquiao.

He's going to get KOed sooner or later when he either jumps up too much weight or he gets caught, and I'm sure people will then say he was crap all along.

He's amazing.

Leigh Wood must be done now, always limited but had absurd toughness and could bang when needed.

Props to Cacece, especially coming out to Gomorrah theme tune into the Cranberries. :inlove:

Always fascinated to know do these Aussie PPV's actually sell at home?

50 dollars does seem demented to me IMO.

Mundine made millions out of local PPVs but iirc he took some financial risk and was a crossover “star”

These guys are nobodies

Can only assume that it might be tied to a streaming package I.e. buy the fight and get a period “free” on the platform

Boxing coverage is pretty weird here as we get some really good fights as part of a pay tv package while others you have to pay for

Think it’s changed in the last few years as Fox isn’t putting much money into it

Aus and NZ local talent are able to exploit the ppv market either with crossover appeal (generally league stars) or by appealing to a particular market segment - e.g. Joseph Parker charged eyewatering prices for ppv and tickets fighting nobodies by appealing to the Samoan and South Auckland community.

Ah, I remember going up to Auckland to watch Joe beat the crap out of poor Brian Minto. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Auntie Judith were both in attendance to cheer him on. Simpler times.

Fabio Wardley has proven me wrong many times over his career but I'm gonna give him another chance to prove me wrong by saying that he gets absolutely schooled and possibly stopped by Justis Huni.

I think this fight is grossly mispriced by the bookies.

Yes Wardley's power and natural fighting instincts are real and there's nowhere that matters more than the heavyweight division, so he will always have an outside shot against anyone he fights.

But at the top level there is only so far that can take you and he's up against someone much faster, much more athletic and with far better boxing skills than him.

If i was a gambling man I'd absolutely put some money on Huni here.

I had been thinking the same. I'm not even that high on Huni, but my impression is he's a fairly skilled and athletic operator while Wardley is (and this may be selling him short) a fairly basic but crowd-pleasing action fighter. The odds seem to reflect a perception of "British level" vs "Aussie level" more than anything else.

Who knows, maybe Wardley will bang him out, but I could also see Huni 118-110ing him (and maybe winning a SD or getting jobbed on the cards ayyy lmao).
