smiths biggest issue long term if he remains skip is he has no credibility anymore.

everytime he tries to highlight some issue or go into bat for his team on a cricketing debate he'll get nothing but 'oh look the cheat is talking again lol'

Yeah pretty much. Regardless of merit he'll have no moral authority to lead the team or speak on its behalf. Which tbh is perhaps not a great loss.

He made an error of judgement, we all do. Anyone could make the error of coercing your newest team-member to do your cheating for you.
Lies ffs. Bancroft just happened to be "in the vicinity of the leadership group" and decided to go ahead with it.

Bad luck to Cameron Bancroft, the least capped player in the side who just happened to be the one standing next to the conversation so it was decided he'd do it.

And well done to Steve Smith who has been man enough to fess up when caught, and is such a decent bloke he says he'd have felt awful if he wasn't caught anyway.

That's cool though, there'll be a wet bus ticket flapped around over the next couple of days and one or two people might feel its soggy wrath.

Nah. Name me anyone who’s been a successful captain of a cricket team who hasn’t picked and chosen when they speak out on issues or been inconsistent on them.

Steve Waugh maybe? Don't recall him saying anything about his brother and John the Bookmaker but Taylor was skip when that came out.

it is though. a lot has been made of his sookier antics as skipper but prior to this he still commanded enormous respect in his team and the world as a great batsman and a successful australian skipper. that's all gone now and australia now lack senior players who have the respect of both the team and the wider cricketing world to take over.

The way the Australian media (larger media, non sporting), other Australian sporting personalities and general public have responded to this just proves how full of **** Australian cricketers are when they justify their disgraceful and rotten behaviour with 'It's the Aussie way". It's not and never was.

Knowing Kohli he'd have played the victim and tried to weasel his way out of it or blame it on the evil Australians or something.
Wot? He's an utter dick, but he has integrity so far as the game is concerned.

Weaseling out is is something that would have been expected of the sanctimonious Smith had his mate not been caught with his pants down at his ankles.

Brainfade, my arse.

Couldn't be happier in particular that Warner finally got what was coming his way. Surely the wake-up call that he needs to finally grow the **** up and shut the **** up.

Who would have made the decision ?

Time zones would have made it slightly difficult too.

Sutherland was basically in tears.
