Australian domestic season 2021/22

Yeah he looks good doesn't he? Mind you, I think this is the weakest NSW side on paper that I've seen in years and years. At least he's salvaging something out of the game for them
He always struck me as an ish Sodhi style flighted ball/long hop wicket specialist in the u19 WC and bbl last year but in the 2 shield games he's played so far he's bowled tremendously for a leggie his age, great control and doesn't often bowl the classic one bad ball an over you see from leggies, even your class ones like MacGill.

Be interesting to see if Swepson or Sangha is the spinner post-Lyon. Probably depends on how long Lyon can maintain form.

After last year swepson deserves a chance at the test XI, would rather let sangha play a few more FC seasons and get some LOI stuff under his belt first.

8 scores under 10 yet Victoria still manage to get to 270. Strange innings.

Fair knock from Dean.

Swepson has been unlucky not to get a test cap. He would've played vs Bangladesh last year at the very least.
He's in danger of being forgot about. The other day the Shield commentators were going on about how Kuhnemann might be considered for the Test side sometime soon completely forgetting that Swepson exists and Kuhnemann was only playing for Queensland because Swepson was stuck in the 13th man Aus bubble forever.

IIRC we're touring (or at least meant to be) Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India over the next 18 months so I'd expect him to get some games there.

The thought of this fills me with dread.

Though touring Pakistan, if it happens, would still be nice anyway.

Yeah our batting in spinning conditions bar smith is very worrying. Warner has done nothing noteworthy in those conditions bar that bangladesh tour in 2015, our second opener may aswell be a cardboard cutout, marnus is unproven against quality spin, green is raw and has had some poor dismissals to spin already (Sundar in the 4th test vs india). Head's average vs spin in tests is very high but I don't trust that.

Head is good vs spin IMO. Left handers vs Ashwin is always dodgy but SL and Pak don't really have a gun offie they actually select.

Properly rapid.
He's like Meredith though, if anything even less accurate. I like that despite the competition from AFL we can still get properly quick guys, but I wish one of them could get five balls in roughly the same spot.

Swepson will at least get a go in SL and India next year. Not keen at all on leg spinners in India, but Swepson's quick, flat style is perhaps a bit better suited. Recently added a googly too, which he used in the WI T20s.

I think Sangha is the much better long term prospect though, he seems to have just about everything Swepson has at a much younger age.
