It’s beautiful. Only sad thing is Harris making runs and they’re gifting them to Victoria.

Meanwhile, Bl00s get it done.

It feels like the failure of Joe Burns to make a century thus far this Shield season may come back to bite him in his hot juicy ass.

Uh oh Spikey it looks like the man in form Marcus Harris who was no longer the man in form is now the man in form again.

Qld just unlucky they had their point fielder a fraction straighter than the spot he always chips it to. Should have done their homework.

just think, if bancroft had actually scored some runs in addition to facing 1000 balls, his team may have not lost by an innings and 51 runs

Needed to play more booming cover drives at wide ones early, definitely. The one thing Australia's fringe opening options don't have enough of is #intent.

after the 879th ball he could have tried something. the team just needed to get to 250 and they made no attempt! except for cartwright who seems to have done nothing for 40 balls and then tried to hit a long hop for six

Bancroft being hailed as the second coming of Steven Waugh whoa whoa whoa, what is he good for has Langer written all over it. That said at least he's planning a county stint.

Sausage Sangha has a FC batting average of 31.7 and a bowling average of 30.3.

Hohns and Chappell debating which of them has to call Patterson to tell him the bad news.

So I can see a scenario whereby Burns gets shipped out on the Aus A tour, cops a couple of good ones early on underprepared decks, and all of a sudden Harris and Bancroft are opening.

Not entirely sure how to square that Langer-ism with Warner returning, though. "You haven't batted in a year, have a crack down the order first. **** KPat."?

1. Harris
2. Bancroft
3. Khawaja
4. Smith
5. Head
6. Warner
7. Paine
8. Cummins
9. Starc
10. Lyon
11. Richardson

12. Hazlewood

Nah the openers will be Warner and Bancroft for the first Ashes test. I can feel it in my bones. Harris can be given the chop because he was given 6 tests and didn't score a century. Burns can get the chop because he scored a century on a road and hasn't otherwise cemented a place. And besides, Bancroft is the hardest working player and the biggest team man that Langer knows. And he's a West Australian, which counts for triple.

Ashes XI (suspected):

Bancroft
Warner
Khawaja
Smith
Head
Patterson
Paine
Cummins
Starc
Lyon
Hazlewood

Dunno. Don't think he'll just slot back in, feel that the WC will be Warner's audition for the Ashes gig and, lucky for him, WC and Ashes are in the same country. Especially since his record in England isn't as good as elsewhere, he'll need the form.

That said, probably wouldn't take much.

The opening spot with Warner aside, that’s probably as good a side as we can put out atm. Would let Burns have first crack - made a big ton against the South Africa-conquering Little Lankans after all. **** Harris. Sick to death of that **** getting out in the softest way imaginable. The other option is Warner bats three and the Pillow gets dropped. Wouldn’t mind that either tbh.

In any event, it seems as though there’s actually a bit of proper competition for spots in the batting order for the first time in a while, which is no bad thing.

Weren't you saying how bad the Lanka's were a couple months ago?

Yeah. But that was when I was making serious points, as opposed to the one I just made about Burns. Use of “Little Lankans” a bit of a give away.

Burns still deserves first crack at it imo. Done nothing wrong in both of his last two recalls and was dealt with very poorly post-SA imo.
