Australian Domestic Off Season 2018

I think you can discount him as a spinner. Not much point if you can't bowl without chucking.

Nair's hope is if he can make it as a batsman, Steve Smith-style.
Funny how that did not apply to Murali. Nair has been passed fit to bowl this season. Have faith.

One of the members was talking of fast tracking youngsters before they had a chance to play against seasoned Grade cricketers. Well Nair started playing Hawkesbury First grade at, believe it or not,15.. Younger than Steve Smith and Steve Waugh. I have footage of this small kid smashing big, brawny quicks to all parts. He also took a 6 fer at 17 years in a U19 final if memory serves.

Sure Kris.
Sandhu has bowled both medium pace and off spin for both Australia A and New South Wales.
The potential is there.
Tasmania have 2 spinners on rookie deals. And no one replaćed Cameron Boyće as chief spinner.
Webster averaged mid 20.s and hardly bowled.

Sandhu bowled some offies for Australia A in India and took a couple of wickets; Brockley is speculating over whether Tasmania might select him to do a Colin Miller and bowl a bit of both.

Now I see his point. Tassie may do. He took plenty of wickets on that A tour from memory. Kinda sad the downhill slide Sandhu has taken the past few year. A move to the Tigers just may be the tonic he needs to revive his career. He is after all a Steve Waugh medallist.

Reckon Boyce got a harsh deal from Tassie cricket. Barely a Shield game if memory serves. I rated him as a leggie. Good composure but he could not bat. Goes to show you that for a slow bowler having a second string to his bow is almost imperitive these days.

Haha he was Australia's YouTube kid. There was footage of him when he was about ten smashing bowling machine balls on YouTube.

I'm glad that the two YouTube kids are actually really promising players, every time I think of those I don't expect them to go anywhere in their sporting careers lol

Was wondering where Somerville went. He is an Aussie cit I was told.. so what is he doing heading back to NZ? Fallins' time will come. A big prospect. Dont write off Nair. He will make his mark for the Blues this year.

Floros actually retired a couple of weeks ago; they've given Chris Lynn his contract but only expect him to be available for the one dayers.

Also, just on these under 19s young blokes NSW has given full contracts to, it's a joke. These kids have not proven themselves at first grade level yet. The fact they were so rapidly endorsed at such young ages is not a sign of overwhelmingly prodigious talent as it is abject desperation.
The Jake Doran thing combined with Greg Chappell's influence makes this stuff inevitable doesn't it? I'm not a fan of it but clearly it's basically expected from CA that most of these guys walk into contracts and get a chance in the professional environment straight away (as opposed to say Jackson Bird doing the U19 stuff and then being in grade cricket for years and years). it's their excuse for getting rid of the Greg Chappell intentional XI, that it's not needed anymore because they're going straight into the set-up now. it's hog wash but hey.
