Yes, because the game is rigged against you 
I won my 3rd in a row but end up 5th on NRR (as I'd expected all along)
Mind you 178-4 after 40 overs chasing 262 I thought the game always caused a collapse?
2 of the 3 teams I beat finished above me - but should I throw my play off to have a rebuilding season or win it and play in this league again?

As you're winning most of your games I wouldn't bother throwing a playoff personally. If you were that team on 3 wins then it'd be different because your sponsor morale etc. would be crap all season and you'd get poor attendances. Teams tend to lose 0/1 wickets in the last 10 or collapse spectacularly and get bowled out - or a combination (like no wickets for 5/6 overs then a massive collapse as with Witherington against me). Whereas in the real world the likelihoods are completely different.

Got a playoff against The G Crew next week. Their main threats are two batsmen and a spinner. Their home ground is dusty too so he'll be having a good time. Hopefully we can just play him off. If I win I go to grade 2. I'll definitely need to dip into the transfer market then for a gun bastman. Thinking to sell some players at the end of the season to raise cash as well.

Haha, very little has changed it seems. Gray only continues to get better and Mcmillan recovered well after a shaky start. Happy that Millsy, the old workhorse, is still weaving his magic. Rayno.. I'm not sure. He underperforms so much... I'm going to do a bit of experimentation with his orders to find out how to get the most out of him. Still, next season should be better, hopefully we'll see Gray, Mcmillan, Johston & Bhutia in the batting and Mcmillan, Mills & Rayno in the bowling.

After the 11th loss of the season, and finishing just 7th in their league, Clapo's XI now must face the fact that Div IV was to great a challenge. However, in a way, the 1 season in Div IV will be beneficial in that i now have a far better understanding as to what level my team needs to be at to compete & win more games in the higher division.
I only hope that my trip back to Div 5 will result in a league where i can pitch my team into battle against teams of a similar standard, as in my 2 seasons so far, i've completed outclassed 7 bot teams, and now been hammered when i was way out of my league in a higher division.

The surprising absence being Canning-- he batted too low to score many runs, but won us quite a few games with the bat. Bowling wise, he was disappointing, generally taking just one or two wickets a game, but could be depended upon to keep it tight and take the big wicket/s. No real players stood out over the season though, as generally one or two would put in a big performance every game, rather than certain players consistently going well.
