His still got 11 days left on his intial contract so basically got two matches to show me his good enough to open the bowling in D2. If not i will be selling him, Ellis (quality/proficient bat) and Tulley (proficient/competent bowl). Should get around 9-10 mil in the bank hopefully after those sales, so i might buy a gun. Good times. :D

Btw how much do exceptional/exceptional players cost these days?
Too much!

I'd guess somewhere over £8M, but I've not exactly been monitoring the market recently.

andyc -- Canning's looking very nice indeed.

Today sees a couple of high-level pops:

Sandwith to Exquisite conc (to match Sensational batting).
Fish to Remarkable WK

I'm not impressed with Sandwith's form -- despite an unbeaten century and a 97 over the weekend, he's dropped to Feeble batting form -- that's FOUR levels in two weeks. Rubbish.

Still, he's my first player with Exquisite anything, which makes me happy.

Fish now looks something like this:

Code:
Keith Fish - 18 yo, BT Rating 28,829
LH Batsman, LFM Bowler, strong batting form, strong bowling form, lively
A destructive player with woeful leadership skills and abysmal experience.
Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: _remarkable_
Batting: strong Concentration: respectable
Bowling: worthless Consistency: competent
Fielding: feeble
With five nets a week, he's perpetually knackered. I want to drop two of his nets for the rest of the season, as having a fit(ter) Fish in the side would give me more chance of staying up than sticking with Gonasilan (Strong/Resp WK, Feeb/Strong bat).

But which two nets? He's on batting x2, WK, stamina and fielding. I reckon I should drop one batting and the stamina net until the end of the season, and restore them during the off-season.

Indeed he is looking good. Not sure when to stop his training though; I think I might cut off his batting at wonderful and give the net to someone else, but leave him on his bowling and fielding net. Any thoughts from anyone would be welcome though.

As for Fish, I'd be more inclined to drop the WK and fielding nets. His WK is good enough as it is, and although his secondaries aren't flash, they're not horrible. His stamina is though, and given that he's still 18, the priority should be on training up primaries IMO, so he should be on the two batting nets.

Going forward, you don't want him to be one of your main batsmen as, even with superb stamina, he's going to suffer a bit if he's playing FC and OD games. So, cutting it off there makes sense -- eventually, he'll be a long term #5/6 batsman who doesn't feature in every innings.

Mind you, I can't remember offhand how good the rest of your team is.

You're right -- his stamina and batting are the two areas on which I should be concentrating. I am going to train his WK further eventually though.

I forgot to mention in my initial post that he should be fairly close to Superb batting.

What's wrong with having a sensational bat at 5/6 instead of a wonderful one?

I also agree with what has been said about Fish, ditch the fielding and wicket-keeper nets first for now - the wicket-keeping isn't a problem because you only really want to train that up another level or so more anyway.

Nothing...unless it's hampering the development of your top order batsmen.

Indeed. I'll be interested to see how quickly his fitness rises and levels out again.

Given the way Battrick's wages work there doesn't seem much point in training players much beyond sensational, given it's pretty easy to train trainees to that level then I don't see how it would hamper the development particularly because it's only one extra net he's using up for 2 seasons.

Cricketer Of The Year
Just one pop:

Greg Shane - 18 yo, BT Rating=10,301
RH Batsman, RH Spin Bowler, respectable batting form, superb bowling form, sublime
A cautious player with strong leadership skills and woeful experience.
Stamina: feeble Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: strong Concentration: respectable
Bowling: worthless Consistency: feeble
Fielding: woeful

Will probably be sold when his contract runs out in a week or so, need a fifth bowler but have no cash.
