All time Aussie choking XI

Hayden, Ponting, Gilchrist, Lillee, Border, Cummins and Hazlewood all in the mix for their respective feats in 81, 05 and 19. Warne failed in a 1 wicket loss against Pakistan at Karachi too. That famous Kolkata choke obviously deserves a mention too. Australia never win those close tests. Very telling tbh.

You can't include Dennis Lillee who did, after all, have a financial interest on the outcome in '81

BoyBrumby

Englishman
Thommo nicked Beefy to Geoff Miller at the MCG in the Boxing Day test of the 82/3 Ashes with the finish line in sight to give England a 3 run win.

Admittedly him and AB did put on 70 for the tenth wicket, but a choke is a choke.

The closer, the better

So Kasper's in trouble for Edgbaston 2005. And Lee for sending down that full toss that even Hoggard was able to punish to get us close to the line at Trent bridge in the same series.

And was it Martyn who famously gave his wicket away when Aus failed to chase a small total against SA in the mid-1990s?

Bradman choked massively in his final test innings.

I'm sure he would've bottled it if he'd played in a World Cup knockout.

It shows how little the OP knows about cricket, and let's be honest life, that he hasn't included Ian Healy here for the one wicket loss to his own nation in 1994 when the ball went for four byes between his legs for the winning runs.

Does Martin Love even make it into the eleven?

His last test innings was 100*
He featured in the team that lost against West Indies in that record 418 chase.

What a shocking list. Some terrible names thrown up here when there are so many others to choose from. In 81, TOTAB made 500+ and averaged 59. The next best average from either side for anyone who played all six tests was 36.

We* should do a corresponding thread for all countries.

*You - I'm too busy

Did he make all those runs in the only tests that count - the World Test Championship? All these Jammy Test runs don't count.
