Their NRR is totally irrelevant actually. The only way they can finish level with anyone is if Australia tie or have the game rained off and NZ beat Bangladesh. In that scenario NZ finish ahead of Australia by virtue of winning one game more (NRR is the second tiebreaker after most wins).
I see now. Thanks.

England are going to be tough to beat in this tournament. [/Captain Obvious]

Yea NZ have a hell of a drop off from the Kane/Taylor/Guptill to the rest. Would have thought Santner would be more suited up the order to extend the innings a bit and keep the big 3 company during the first 35-40 overs. Because as shown he's hopeless having a slog.
Santner can't bat. Every now and then he offers a lucky cameo but he's scared of the short ball, is limited in the shots he can play and really at int level should be a #9 ODI bat (and not play tests)

Sat down and saw the last two wickets. No doubt we'd have lost had I been able to watch all day.

Good stuff

One of our better bowling performances for a while. Helps when the pitch has just a little.

Jeez, Ball? It was a good spell first up but MotM? No.

I wouldn't have picked Ball. Pleased I wasn't too vocal about it.

Must have looked the dog's bollocks in his early spell to get MotM with two wickets to Plunkett's four.

Atrocious effort, that. Left work when KW and Taylor had just picked it up and were looking really good, but always knew we were only one wicket away from a likely shambles. It's so frustrating that our cricketers just do not seem to develop in the same way that other countries' do - this middle order weakness has been obvious for a long time now yet the candidates for those positions have gone backwards if anything. Disappointing too that our bowlers didn't get the same out of the pitch that England did - the rain may have had something to do with that, but I doubt it really.

He was like 1/1 off his first three overs, which is nifty. Still would have gone Buttler or Plunkett.

What? Ball MotM? Weird. Was decent in the opening spell but Plunkers was pretty good also - and got twice Ball's wickets.

What if England beat Australia and NZ-Bang gets rained off? Wouldnt it come down to NRR then.

That was a cracking piece of bowling. Classic spinners dismissal.
Oh yeah, just watched the clip on cricinfo - I had harshly assumed it was a bad ball played poorly. Nice take from Buttler.

Also nice to see Ball coming out with good figures after a couple of ordinary games. Well done too all the bowlers, really

Yea, but none of your other specialist bats (besides the main 3) can bat either. So you may as well try and make the most of what you have, Santner was absolutely hopeless trying to score quickly. As long as he can score at 70-80 SR at 5 then you're making more of the available batting resources. NZ have plenty of guys who can have a slog at 8, Munro or whoever can come in for Broom.

Well played England. Batting came on as expected but bowling a real boost for them.

Very disappointing for NZ following the performance against Australia, but the holes in the current side are simply getting exposed more often than not you feel.

This is all true but Santner flat out can't bat. It wouldn't work. As you say he can't score quick enough.

Neesham needs to bat 5 and they can pad around him. Unfortunately our middle order just hasn't got better at all, spectacular job Craig McMillan is doing as batting coach.
