That was pretty easy for England. NZ seem to have decided that slow bowling is the order of the day, but are only playing one spinner.

Roots soaked up a lot more dot balls than normal here. Think he actually needs to rotate the strike better oddly enough, Hales gets jittery if he is away from strike for a while and might do something daft.

He's striking quicker than usual. Hales shouldn't be too bothered about what Root is doing, he knows what his role is.
