5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Whatever it takes!!!
GG is very obviously an insecure **** most of the times. I dont think I will rule out the groundsman saying really bad stuff out there either and honestly, asking the team management to not have a look at the pitch and the square 2 days before the game when there is no danger of scuffing the pitch, esp. if he is letting the English team mgmnt have a look, is just as cunty as anything GG does or says.

It still does not excuse the classic "do you know who I am" overcompensation outburst. He is such an insecure ****.

"You're just a groundsman, stay in your capacity. You're just a groundsman, nothing beyond that."

Clearly not happy letting Stokes have a free run at the biggest dickhead involved in this series award.

Using his 'status' to win the argument. Cheap man.
Yeah, that's ****ing ridiculous. If you wanted to inspect the pitch and you thought you were being unfairly prevented from doing so, you can professionally talk with the groundman, and if that doesn't work, take it up with the match referee or some other formal process. Stuff like that is entirely uncalled for, and I hope Gambhir gets disciplined for it. It's completely unprofessional behavior and should not be tolerated in any modern workplace.

There is an army of drones copy pasting the same defence of Gambhir on X: "The groundsman is known to be difficult. Did the same to the women's team." etc. without any evidence to back it up, as if it would make Gambhir's comments any more acceptable, even if it were true. Truly mind numbing jingoism on display all around.

And yet, nothing was known about this before this morning…

Bumble's come out with some dumbass comments too. Keeps going on about "who's going to bowl at you?" apropos India's refusal to accept the handshake. What do you mean who's going to bowl at you. Eleven players, pick a few ffs. You can't bullrush an unwilling team into accepting your offer.

I've seen Indian fans now defend this behaviour by speculating that the groundsman would not have behaved this way if it was the England team in this situation. It's wild the mental gymnastics people will go to in order to avoid admitting to themselves that their team is in the wrong.

Even if that is true and that person is difficult to work with, it doesn't really excuse Gambhir's behavior. Someone else's unprofessionalism doesn't excuse yours. There are ways to take the issue up the chain if you are having a problem with somebody.
