kallis was neither

thus my vote for Hadlee. Best bowler of his era (sorry Marshall) and a very acceptable bat

It’s either Imran or Kallis, with Hadlee pretty close. I can see the argument for Gilchrist but at the end of the day I think bowling is way tougher than keeping.

Very easily? If anything I'd say it's the opposite. Hard to be the greatest cricketer if you only specialise in one discipline unless you're waaaaaay better than anyone else at that discipline. Other than Bradman no one qualifies. It would have to be Sachin averaging 80 with the bat or McGrath averaging 12 with the ball.

How could it be Sachin when Kallis was only very marginally less good but also a Test class bowler. It's got to be Kallis, Gilchrist or Imran. Hadlee a fair choice if you really rate his batting.

If you can combine bowling skills of Walsh and Batting Skills of Desilva, you are far better than Sachin, Akram, Lara, McGrath.. Etc

Except that Kallis was the number one ranked batsman for a while, in both tests and ODIs.

Kallis doesn't make ATXI of either Test or ODI(most people). Yet he is the greatest cricketer ?

That's because there are better batsmen and better bowlers than him. But none of those batsmen bowled as well as he did and none of those bowlers batted as well as he did. So taking both disciplines into account there's definitely a case to be made for Kallis.
