I don't know where Harvey got the reputation as a good bowler at the death. More often then not when I've seen him bowl at the death he goes for 5-8 runs an over. He went for 61 off his 10 only slightly better than White who went for 68 off his 8, and kept himself on (poor captaincy). Victoria need 299 win.

he plays really well on the odd occasion and it always seems to be at just the right time to keep getting him picked.

SA are shooting themselves in the foot against QLD. QLD are 0/66 after 9. Tait just gave away 9 runs in one ball. (He bowled a no ball which went for 4 (5) and rebowled it down the legside and went for 4 wides.

lol their fielding is almost as bad as the indian fielding was for most of the series... hopes got a 6 off a free hit too

No it didn't, it went for four byes. If it was wides, there would have been five and it would have been rebowled again, and chances are we'd be seeing more than ten runs off one legitimate ball.

Well SA got absolutely smashed. Is QLD the first team to ever get the double bonus point? I don't know what went wrong, but SA used to be one of the best fielding teams in the competition, if not the best.

Fantastic batting from Symonds, Bichel and Hopes. And well bowled by Cleary...Tait was unlucky.

SA have such an inexperienced team this year and they're really paying for it.

True, my mistake.

SA still lost with 25 overs to go, giving Queensland an extra bonus point.

Has this happened before?

Pretty sure it has, although I can't remember when.

Props to Cleary for that last over, he nearly pulled a point off the Bulls. And what the hell was with Perren's shot? It was a pretty good ball from Cleary for sure, but Perren wasn't even in the vicinity. Don't know when I've seen a trashier shot than that.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Tait's ball to Maher that was as plumb as any I've ever seen. That's got to have hurt Tait, but those are the breaks in Cricket I guess. Either way, his follow-up ball was a gem. :D

Boy, oh, boy, that was dead plumb! It seems Maher's talk to that exact umpire during South Australia's innings helped lol.

Regarding Tate, despite the fact he should have had Maher, it doesn't hide the fact, that unless he gets everything absolutely right, ie. 8/23 (or whatever he got) he bowles far too many 4 balls and wides.

vics: harwood, harvey, lewis, denton, harrop, knowles, wise, inness who took 5/50 odd vs india last year, better than ne of the australian bowlers did in the tests, mcdonald and moss bowl handy pace, john taylor, played for Western Australia last year, is back in victoria now, plus dirk nannes who has been killing them in 2nd XI games...we don't have stars, but we have consistent bowlers who all hold themselves well at 1st class level

Yet, they go for 298 runs in 50. Granted, that was helped by Cameron White's dredful 7 overs, but the quicks weren't that much better.

All the Queensland-bias stuff I've said about you has just gone out the window for the next... 5 minutes or so! :)

injuries hurt

while congratulating the south australian selectors on having so much confidence in their young kids, all of whom are going to be great long term players, was it such a wise move to slide them all in at the one time? they just seem to be batting (and today, bowling) like a team that doesn't have the experience to be able to control the tempo of the game.

admitted, injury to blewett hurts. also, is paul rofe injured? surely he can't have been dropped

john davison must be having recurring nightmares about playing for the minnows of the competion (a la world cup 03)

Paul Rofe's record isn't all that great in ING, I think he has been dropped.

Once again, I will reiterate the fact that I am not biased towards Queenslanders, just biased against other players (especially those from N.S.W.) who get selected ahead of more qualified Queensland players.

Anyone, with two functioning eyes (and I was wearing glases) could see that that L.B.W. was dead plumb, no matter what state you come from.

it will be interesting to see how the australian selectors view cameron white over the next few years, as he and the victorian coaching staff are grooming him to be a batting all-rounder. he already hits the ball harder than anyone in the vic side.

Read in the paper yesterday a list of Michael Clark's previous injuries... 2 shoulder reconstructions, 1 knee reconstruction, a broken leg and that fractured vertebre last season.

South Australia has been giving me headaches so far. But I do think that if Tait and Cleary can get their act together on any given day, they will be a good new ball partnership.
