It's like their names were chosen to exemplify bleakness.

I know there have been one-off tests with terrible attacks, but looking at the stock of available bowlers for this series as a whole there's just no real quality at all. Really depending on Woakes still having something in the tank at age 36 and the early signs aren't good.

Quality from Carse. Bowlers don't get as much credit for those dismissals because they always look untidy, but finding that seam movement in from back of a length is lethal now that everyone cuts all the time.

Been crazy dry and hot for the last 3 months, very little rain since March. Gardens and golf courses are brown, talk of hosepipe bans.
