*Official* New Zealand in Zimbabwe 2025 (Tests)

Commentators suggesting Tsiga shouldn't farm the strike with Chivanga here. This is your daily reminder that commentators are dumb.

That jinx was genuinely instant. Took less than a second.

Damn the 5-fer, it doesn't make much sense to continue bowling Henry in this situation due to injury considerations. Especially when he's taking overs from debutants.

Looks like Foulkes has been doing well.

Should india convert two match test series vs sa into 3 match series?

Only going to work if you're not dropping any LOIs given CSA's financial situation. Though I'm sure tests against India still earn profits. The obvious solution is just for the BCCI with its infinite money glitch to play 15 tests a year. (Like, seriously, why don't they?)

Better Batsman : Jadeja vs Imran

Do you understand what "disproportionately" means? This is a valid point I did not consider. But I think "length of longest innings (plural)" is a better barometer than "number of 100s", and I'd chuck in FC record for good measure. (That was genuinely not a ploy to say "haha Jadeja has 3 FC...

Better Batsman : Jadeja vs Imran

That's an all-timer of a straw man. What I'm saying is that the first 50 runs are as important, if not marginally more, than the second 50 runs. This is already reflected by batting average (and SR, I guess) – it does not need to be double-counted. If you're better at staying in, your batting...

Better Batsman : Jadeja vs Imran

Nah it's not really debatable. If you're in a really bad team then maybe, since fifties are more likely (relatively) to occur than centuries where you've basically lost already, but neither Imran nor Jadeja were in bad teams.

Better Batsman : Jadeja vs Imran

A persisting myth, but tons have disproportionately smaller impact than fifties because they're more likely to be scored in dead games. In other words, 50 & 50 = 100 & 0. It's not complicated: reaching three figures doesn't make an innings three times as impactful.

    Sid Barnes vs Lindsay Hassett

Man I sure like it when my rating players very highly solely based on FC averages is validated like this. Bowes and now Hassett. Better than Larwood and McCabe respectively.

Link? If so, surely no way he gets into Zimbabwe in time unless he hopped on a plane yesterday. Could be an amazing opportunity for Bevon Jacobs. Edit: forgot he was in the UK. Still

And clearly Williamson's impending 500 runs in three tests v WI will see him well and truly pass May at home, but I digress.

    All-Time World XIs: Discussion Thread

That seems fair. I didn't realise May's matches in England were so low-scoring; I assumed that it was the ones he did crap in that brought the average average down. Not helped by the English bowling attack being the second best of all time but opposition bowlers did well too. I disagree since...

    All-Time World XIs: Discussion Thread

I know you think that. But you can't decide that 35 is actually 50. I am really struggling to see how either May's home or away record is better than Williamson's, when longevity is considered.

    All-Time World XIs: Discussion Thread

If you were to run the standardised averages list again you would see that Williamson has surpassed May.

I did not vote Weekes over Barrington. Nourse ****blocked my chance to choose between them, and I would've chosen Barrington anyway. You are right though and you don't need to make up **** to prove it, especially when my voting is erratic as it is. I don't care about away records any more than...

Well personally I had no idea it was nearly as bad. Like Compton's away record on steroids. But it doesn't matter, does it? Away record only matters for non-Englishmen.
