He was certainly considered in that post Strauss period where Cook couldn't find a partner. Hales, Robson, Lyth, Compton (even Root could be added to the list) of failed candidates, but he never got a look in. Possibly playing for Worcs didn't help either.

I feel they were trying to run before they could walk , trying to arrange tests against England, NZ, SA was a step too far for a side that barely played Test cricket ..Just don't have the quality to compete

I can't figure out why Zimbabwe's batting has been this terrible. They've just been giving catching practice to straight balls. Bennet, Williams, Ervine and Raza should all be decent but they've batted like total amateurs.
