Greatest Catches In The History of Cricket

The finest catch ever was taken by yours truly, only 3 weeks ago, when I was in the gully and caught a firm reverse sweep single handedly (left hand!), body and arm fully outstretched in the air. Obviously, as this happened at the lowest level of Dutch Cricket (so, that's really low), no...

*Official* Compaq Cup 2009 in Sri Lanka

Well, M doesn't play, unless you mean Slinga M. Anyway, these two (Matthews & Samaraweera) have put up 100 at 5 rpo, without too many alarms.

*Official* Compaq Cup 2009 in Sri Lanka

I see Thilian Samaraweera is making his ODI-highscore right now. How come a batsman, with a test average over 50, who is supposed to be a handy all-rounder, is only playing his 22nd ODI and averages only a bit more than 20? About the game:Matthews & Samaraweera are scoring over 7 rpo now...

Non Test Playing Nations (Fresh Thread)

There was nothing like a home advantage yesterday! It was like every Afghani was there!

Non Test Playing Nations (Fresh Thread)

I've just come home form the VRA ground. It was a good match. A lot of tension there! What amazed me was that there were about 25 Dutch supporters (which is normal, I suppose) and about 500 Afghanistanis!

    The fallout

If the Aussies will generally use 3 quicks + 1 spinner, with Watson as a 4th quick-option, and if Lee will come back in, either Siddle, Hilfy or Johnson has to go (assuming Clark is gone anyway). I would axe Siddle, I guess. At Edgbaston he came in under quite some pressure!

    Highlights of the Ashes

I find it not so easy to create a top 5. But here I go: -Flintoff's spell at Lord's. It was a great spell. But to be fair, not per se match winning. I'm quite sure England would have managed without it as well. It ranks the top, for the simple reason Freddie is my favourite, not based on these...

*Official* Fifth Test at The Oval

So, England drop their best bowler (so say the stats) for Harmison. And that's in addition to promoting their worst batsman (including the tailenders) to #3. Yet, I give England a decent chance. So far, both teams have been below par, with Australia being the better side, by simply being the...

*Official* Fifth Test at The Oval

How facts can differ form one's gut feeling....... The stats simply say Onions is England's top bowler, with Broad coming next. As said earlier, bringing in Harmison would not be the best choice, but might be the best gamble. Whatever England's line up will be, I sense a great match coming...

*Official* Fifth Test at The Oval

It seems England's line up is cemented for 10 spots, leaving one bowling spot open. From the Telegraph: Graeme Onions, Monty Panesar, Steve Harmison and Ryan Sidebottom are in contention for the final bowling spot. Panesar's lack of anything approaching decent form this summer will almost...

*Official* Fifth Test at The Oval

I doubt Onions will be dropped for Panesar...., but one never knows. Anyway, I'm still far more puzzled by the fact that Ian Bell, who really should have been axed, is promoted to #3. That's just plain stupid, imho.

*Official* Fifth Test at The Oval

So, after murdering his second chance to play Test Cricket for England, Ian Bell gets a promotion to #3 ??

*Official* Fifth Test at The Oval

I think that's the point: bringing in a debutant at #3 during the Ashes decider seems more risky than bringing in an old warrior. BTW, it's just my gut feeling that says Ramps is on the brink of being selected.

*Official* Fifth Test at The Oval

By no means more risky than any of the alternatives, right?
  18. Stapel

*Official* Fifth Test at The Oval

Whereas as Tresco is not considered, the momentum for Ramps seems to grow! The way things look now is that Bell & Bopara will be axed (rightfully so) and that Ramprakash will fill one spot, leaving the other open for either Key or Trott? Nobody seems to argue about Harmison these days. Fair...

*Official* Fifth Test at The Oval

We cannot say what his temperament at the top level will be, since that was too long ago, imho. I might have changed a lot! Actually, it should have improved, I reckon. That would be a false argument, I think. The procedure of picking a new batsman, if any spots become available (and we all...

*Official* Fifth Test at The Oval

Nearly being 40 hasn't stopped him from scoring 250+ innings, so that's hardly an arguement. Producing the goods in Div 2 might though. Anyway, England should drop both Bops & Belly, so Trott & Ramps can both have a go.
