*Official* English Domestic Season Thread 2010

RtD is easily the best non-test cricketer around. I know I'm biased, but this is a claim I can defend seriously. Just wondering, have the Saffies ever tried to get him into their Test team? Not that they really need an all-rounder, with Kallis in, but still...

    Garry Sobers vs Brian Lara?

As batsmen: inconclusive. As cricketers: Sobers by a mile.

    *Official* Indian Premier League 2010

It makes me wonder..... When is a catch a catch? If a fielder takes the ball head high, holds on firmly and than falls down, still holding the ball firmly, and when his hands touch the ground, and if it appears the leather of the ball touches the ground before the skin of the hands does, but...

I think it means he is the worst of the top 9.............

So what does the future hold for West Indies?

Well, most people don't expect him in.... But I can see why he should be. But the suggestion that Chanders will be dropped for Deo..... Get real. Axing Nash for Deo is slightly more realistic, but still ridiculous.

    *Official* England in Bangladesh

Not sure if this is what really happened, but I've done it myself last summer. Batsman got squared up in a rather silly way (happens all the time at my own crap level :) ), I saw the ball heading for his pads, dead plumb, but while I began to appeal, the batsman managed to allow the ball to pass...

Totally agree. When watching a few re-runs, it's all so easy. With the first two LBW-appeals I was thinking: Might have missed the top / might have mist leg. And that inside edge was indeed quite clear...., when watching the slomo. Yet, BD are obviously very unlucky. But that's why have the...

How one over makes you feel totally different about the game! Trott had 3 boundaries in 136 balls and then adds 3 in one over. Which doesn't sound as impressive...., but, when you think about it, being 16th isn't bad at all.

Battle of Cricketers - CW's Favorite Cricketer

Andrew Flintoff Chris Gayle Edgar Schiferli Ever since the BBC lost TV-rights to SKY, my access to cricket was reduced to zero. It was Flintoff, and pretty much Flintoff alone, who dragged me back into cricket. Chris Gayle is on the list for being the coolest cricketer around and for...

    *Official* Indian Premier League 2010

Maybe I was.... The thing is that, in general, I dislike commentators getting over-enthousiast when something reasonably good occurs. It's not so much the enthousiasm, actually, but merely the qualification given. A fielder that slightly misjudges an aerial ball, but takes it anyway, looks...

I can see the good thing in that great 6th wicket stand. However, in the end Bangladesh managed to take only 13 wickets (note that Collingwood's and Bell's first innings wicket were slog-balls, so only 11 proper wickets) and still lost by 181 runs. A long way to go!

Disagree? He didn't run back enough. If he would have run back a yard or two more, the catch would have looked (and been) easier.

Good catch by Smith. But not a fantastic one, as the commentators think. It only looked great, because he didn't get under it properly.

    *Official* England in Bangladesh

Many times, fans simply copy what commentators and/or reporters say. And in just any sport, live commentary is full of ridiculous comments. Sometimes because commentators are douchebags, but we should not forget that it ain't that easy. Watching a dozen reruns form a dozen angles and then...

I'm still puzzled why..... Did he have an affair with one of the selector's wifes? It can't be for cricket reasons only.

    Sir Imran Khan?? Why not??

I actually was being rhetorical :) . Point is that there is no use in refering to situations of a 100 years ago.
