Well, my money would have been on WI, even without Roach' cameo. WI are going to win this!

Must be great to be in Roach' position right now. Not much to lose, allowed to swing the bat, and a fair chance to be there at the end.

That hit him on the upper leg!

Why does he bat at 11? I've just checked Narine's batting figures. Nothing much to go by, but to bat him up front Best & Roach beats me. I guess putting Best in at 9 makes some sense.

Very good innings. Built up properly, and when in the typical Chanderpaul situation (i.e. left with the tale), he had a decent swing at it.

Apart from that, it isn't too long ago that Dan the Man seemed to be the only proper NZ Test Cricketer....

Whatever this 7th wicket partnership will bring to this match, so far it is the highest of the WI innings!

    A bit of a open door :) . Hence I fully agree.

As soon as play stops, for whatever reason, we can switch to Jamaica, where Christopher Henry Gayle is on 7 runs from 50 deliveries... He has to break free at some point!

Not bad for a guy with my nearly my age and nearly my figure 8-) .

Even the greatest slip catchers drop dollies occasionally. And I could argue that slip catches are never real dollies. Anyway, part, even an essential part, of being a top batsman is not to add that to the pressure. I rate Strauss, and especially his ability to not be pressurised, quite highly...

Not too long ago I figured (and posted iirc) that Kallis has a lot of batting to come, but that his (Test) bowling was done and dusted with. I guess I was wrong. I think Kallis bowled pretty fine balls in the first test too!

Obviously the dropped cost big time. But I find it rather silly to make that count for batting pressure. You catch some, you drop some. No slip fielders has (near) perfect figures! Agree about the first use of the pitch. Just a gamble gone (marginally?) wrong.

Nowhere near as bad as Ricky Ponting's call at Edgbaston :) . And I don't think a drop (or two) should add to the pressure. Did I miss something and is Strauss on a bad fielding avenue? I don't get too much press coverage or pub talk here in NL. Indeed. My money is on England doing so.

I thought I heard two noises and my guess is that the umpire felt it might have been bat first. Good decision to refer that.

Well, obviously England need runs, and thus a fair contribution by their openers would be nice. England need to show what they're made of after The Oval. So there is some pressure. But I don't think there is anything like personal pressure on Strauss (or Cook). No pressure of the type "this...

Hmmm, Not too many people at Sabina Park to watch their local hero bat.... Why is that? Can't be the Olympics..., yet.....
