***Official*** Pakistan and England in UAE

England's #1 position depends on this match, right? So not a proper dead rubber for England then. Apart from their position, they have a point to prove anyway.

That's that! Very impressive by England. Or should we say, this is another typical Pakistan variety between being brilliant and being dreadful? Question: why did Swann only get 1 over?

Apart from the discussion about playing 1 or 2 spinners, I can't see Morgan keeping his place for much longer. He probably gets a nother chance next test (assuming he won't bat 2nd innings), but that should be it. Morgan hardly has any decent contributions. His best scores are, iirc, either...

England put on 150 runs for the last 5 wickets. That's a fine effort, especially when under some pressure. Obviously Pakistan are still in a good position. But this England team won't break so easily.

First of all, I only tried to say there is a small hint his form has dropped from 100% to 95%. So, I agree there is not too much to be worried about.. However, regardless of Dravid's from, I do think form can indeed change overnight. Both ways!

Dravid being bowled 3 times now (right?) might be a hint he is not in 100% top form.

That was a pretty straight forward chance! Wouldn't want to judge him on this ball, but how is Haddin regarded as a Glovesman in general?

A double 100 straight after bagging a pair. Makes it even more impressive, for a man who has so many times been criticized for not getting on with it.

    Best All-Rounder ever

Today Cricinfo showed another Ask Steven. It has a list of cricketers taking 5-ers and batting centuries in one Test. That list is limited and clearly there is one leader of the pack in Sir Ian. Obviously it is not the only way to judge an all-rounder, but it does feel us something, I guess...

I'm with you! I want a tight contest with India losing the series on day 5 of Test 4 after tea, by a poor umpire decision that would be reversed by DRS, had there be such a possibility  . Just something I wonder: During Ashes series, taking the urn is the goal, rather than winning the...

Does it matter if he really gets back to his standard level? Sure would be nice, but I would select this Ponting anyway. Since the start of 2010/2011, Ponting has averaged 33,2. Obviously, that is not even near his own capabilities, and not justifying a place in the AUS side by itself. However...

I was thinking the same. I'm really looking forward to that. Might as well plan a trip or two to England

Surprise surprise! Sehwag out to a short ball on off.

Looks like a very good set up to me! It sucks it is 2 am here. No way I'm gonna stay awake during lunch, when lunch is from 2:30 tot 3:10 in the morning........

Yeah, I agree Aus are favourites now. But strong favourites? Not so sure. The fact that the Indians didn't do well in England doesn't say too much. That was England, the best Test team around these days, due to their superb bowling attack, bowling in helpful conditions.

Indeed. If Aus can score 60+ runs for the last two wickets in the 3rd innings, 300 doesn't seem an impossible target with Gambhir, Sehwag, Dravid, Tendulkar, Laxman, Kohli, Dhone & Ashwin....
