I'm going to go back to thinking modern batsmen are just rubbish if this keeps up. There's nothing much in this wicket, the bounce is true. It is a swinging a bit, but really there's no reason why this isn't a 300-350 wicket. While Steyn is class, the other bowlers are decent but hardly world...

Pretty amusing that both spinners ended up with three wickets. Shows that most bowlers are in with a chance on pitches with a bit of bounce.

But surely Monty's failure to score 20 with the bat will come back to haunt England here?????

It's not even accurate. Perfectly possible to run 3 or 4 then get four overthrows....

*Official* New Zealand Domestic Cricket Season 2012/2013

Hadn't realised he was quite that old. We turned over so many batsmen in the previous decade... Bell, Papps, Fulton, Howe, Cumming, Redmond, Marshall J, etc, plus a few others in ODIs. Not to mention Sinclair of course. Quite a few of them did go back to first class cricket and score a few...

*Official* New Zealand Domestic Cricket Season 2012/2013

So Peter Fulton seems to be having a pretty decent season this year? I have seen zero minutes of actual cricket so far this year, so I'm not sure what to make of this. Any thoughts that he might be worth a (third, or is it fourth?) try in the national side?

Can you not sell him at 6.50 and lock in your profit? Or is it not that kind of a bet...

How embarassing will it be for Nicol to watch this performance, and still he won't get picked for the next match. The annoying thing though about the side which failed here is that there's really no obvious way to improve it. The top 5 are made up of the best 5 batsmen in the country (along...

So they'll have a couple of extra days before the next test. Long enough to phone up Ryder and Watling and get them on a plane?

Next time someone slags off Samaraweera in particular for being a home-track bully, can we all refer to this test scorecard. (yes, I know he didn't score many in this match either, but it's the principle that batting in SL isn't always easy...)

Just noticed there are 17 overs to go and we're what, half an hour from the scheduled stumps. What odds on Taylor getting banned for a match before the summer's out?

Last time we won a test in Sri Lanka - wasn't it a close first innings before Fleming and McMillan put on a huge partnership? McCullum and Franklin this time.... same left-right combination, similar names, and the "F" tall and left handed, the "Mc" shorter and more aggressive. History repeating.

I really hope they survive, but 200 in two sessions on a slow wicket will be pretty difficult.

As you say, three tests on, now 11 wickets down inside 90 minutes, (Cook the latest) and only one of them a Bangladesh player. Times are changing....

new zealand's most effective pace bowling

For a time around 1997-2000 the stocks looked good on paper, but they were all so injury-prone we would usually only get two of that four onto the field at any one time.... Plus the selectors were keen to carry on a lengthy experiment with with Geoff Allott.
