    *Official* 2nd Test at Lord's

Tait only played two Tests, right? And if those weren't in the great series of 2005, I figure I wouldn't have heared of him at all. I get your point, just think it's not the best example. Having said that, I don't think Mitch&Mitch are too similar, apart from being wicket takers that might go...

    *Official* 2nd Test at Lord's

So, the only doubt on either team is Mitchel Starc, right? Who do we reckon are favourites now? Before the 1st Test, bookies had England 1:4 and Aus 4:5 or so. I figured that was too much credit to Australia, though they were favourites. They're nearly even now, but Aus are still favourites...

    *Official* 2nd Test at Lord's

That's something I've never really given a thought! The horses for courses principle seems to be normal when picking bowlers, yet completely not done when selecting batsmen.

*Official* 1st Test at the SWALEC Stadium

Yet he had a habbit of taking a wicket in hsi first over. Possibly more myth than statistical truth? Otherwise I agree with the idea. Makes sense

    *Official* 2nd Test at Lord's

-On England's unchanged 13 squad: well...., as surprising as the outcome of the sum of 1 and 1. -On Starc: I find it somewhat worrying. Professional top sport (hmmm, even amateur crap level tbh) is the first and foremost thing in the world, to be the victim of opportunistic decisions. Is he...

Countries you wish were really good at/really cared about cricket

Didn't work for American Football, Baseball, or Basketball. None of these sports are anything reasonably popular in large parts of the world. You're spot on there!

Test cricket and the huge advantage team batting first

If you're really interested in history, please read some more first. Batting first can be an advantage. Probably even in more than 50% of the scenario's. But this test is was not the deciding factor. Simply not.

*Official* 1st Test at the SWALEC Stadium

Superb! I think 264/5 in reply to 430 at the end of day 2, is far far more than one could have hoped for as a (somewhat) neutral supporter!

Another one is coming! It just looks like that.

    Makes it more puzzling......

Will happen. There's a wicket due.

*Official* 1st Test at the SWALEC Stadium

Yeah, a puzzling remark. Apparently, he doesn't rate him. IMHO, many people try to rate Watson as a batsman too much. He should be rated as an all-rounder. Neither a batting all-rounder, nor a bowlng all-rounder, just an al-rounder. From that perspective, his batting is fine.

*Official* 1st Test at the SWALEC Stadium

Though I agree, it must be said it was a weird, hence poor shot.

Dean Cosker is the Gary Pratt of 2015!

    Not the worst catch that!

*Official* 1st Test at the SWALEC Stadium

Was thinking the same. But I'll eat my hat if the Aussies score 600+ this time.

*Official* 1st Test at the SWALEC Stadium

Jimmy rather bowls, I guess. I'm very very curious how Anderson & Broad will do!

*Official* 1st Test at the SWALEC Stadium

The scorecard saying: Johnson - 25 - 3 - 111 - 0 It was simply time for Johnson to get back to his 2010 /11 filth.

*Official* 1st Test at the SWALEC Stadium

Dropped, yet out? Come on, there is no doubt that ball has touch the ground, before the catch was completed........... Should be an easy decision!

    Bowlers who can bat

Don't give up that soon, dude! To give my 2 cents: I think the greatest failure of recognition is, as you mentioned in the bottom of your OP, the ability to hang around, rather than to contribute. If a Test team happen to have a number 10 that can actually score runs, well, good for them. But...
