Abul Hasan not in the mix at all?

***Official*** New Zealand in Bangladesh & Sri Lanka 2013

I'll re-iterate the point made by an earlier poster - are there seriously SEVEN one-day-internationals in this tour? Who the bleep wants to watch any more than a 3-match ODI series between these two sides?

    DoG's Top 100 Test Batsmen - The Top 25

Echo all the thanks for sharing this with us DoG. One question - what happens to Headley's rating if you remove his post-war tests? Obviously his career length would shorten dramatically, but his average would go up, as would his percentage of games played, significant/great innings per test...

These two + Asad to get them a big lead, 300+. Zimbabwe to come close and go down guns blazing like they did vs NZ....

    Worst Commentators/Pundits XI

Oops, and Jim Maxwell of course, when he's not being picked on by streams of gloating English commentators.

    Worst Commentators/Pundits XI

It's amazing that there has been so few very good commentators / comments people on radio or television who were previously very good cricketers, (you almost have to go back to Benaud... I thought Gower was ok for a while, and even Ian Smith when he first came on the scene. But after a while...

Rahat Ali looking pretty ordinary here. What's up with Pakistan's famed fast bowling stocks?

The "I told you so" and "I was wrong" Thread.

To get back to the original topic title, I'll admit to being wrong about Steve Smith. Didn't think he was more than a 28-30 average sort of batsman. And being a kiwi, you'd think I could spot one when I saw one...

The "I told you so" and "I was wrong" Thread.

Burgey was hardly alone in not rating Bell. Was it CMB-something or other who did a bit of posting for a while before the trip to India I think? Haven't seen him around here much lately.

    *Official* Fourth Test at Chester-le-Street

Just wanted to point out that Lyon and Harris took 16 wickets in the match. The selectors didn't pick either for the first test. (and yes I know that neither of them would have done much to prevent Australia being 117-9 in their first innings... but it does throw into question the selectors'...

Australia's test side for the Ashes in Australia

Not sure why Smith appears so often in these lists. Worked hard etc etc good against spin etc etc but on bouncy wickets is he really one of Australia's top 6 batsmen? Genuine question - is Wade not more likely to score runs than any of Hughes, Khawaja or Smith? If I were running the show I'd...

    *Official* Fourth Test at Chester-le-Street

If Harris's knees every force him to give up bowling, can he be played as a specialist batsman?

    *Official* Fourth Test at Chester-le-Street

Sorry, but no.... No tinkering with the selection panel is going to change the fact that Austalia were 120-9 and 130 all out in the first innings of the first two tests on perfectly decent batting wickets. Warner's unavailability can hardly be put down to the selection panel, and maybe Katich...

*Official* Third Test at Old Trafford

I was about to say that though Bell has been batting pretty well, he's been very lucky to get to double figures in most of innings, and here again he gets a play and miss and a flukey near miss. But if he has a broken thumb it might not be quite so lucky...

*Official* Third Test at Old Trafford

Did I miss something or did Lyon not bowl two reasonable overs at Cook? Why take him off?

    Contentious decisions, UDRS, Wambulance Thread.

The more I think about it, the less the "half the ball hitting" makes sense to me. For example... case a) batsman makes a big stride forward. Is hit in front, ball swinging leg-side-ish. With nearly three metres to travel, ball is shown to be clipping leg on Hawkeye's best prediction...

Pattinson Out of the Rest of the Series

Seems the roles have been completely reversed. Back in the good old days it would be the English seamers getting injured or never being fully fit (Jones, Gough, Fraser etc).

Does anyone think Australia's situation is not actually that dire?

I am no Indian fanboy, but I think this is being wildly optimistic. They are a far better side than the one that toured last year, and minus Hussey, Australia are considerably worse. Plus the 3-0 prediction against the lower-ranked teams... remember Hobart? I think Australian fans have lots of...
