***Official*** West Indies in New Zealand 2013/14

It is so bright where I am (Roslyn, about 4km south west of the ground).... but still faintly drizzling.

Have faith. Sun is out now in the west of the city. It's still drizzly mind. One of those "if they were out playing they wouldn't go off, but as they're off they won't come back" situations. But I think we'll get an hour of no rain pretty soon. Long enough to get the covers off and get back...

Looks very grim to the north... but luckily the weather is coming from the south, where the cloud cover is a bit more broken. Though it's not moving quickly. Oops, can now hear the rain on the roof so it's getting heavier

Thunder above Dunedin. Doesn't look like rain imminent but...

No mention on here of Sammy's batting - how was he doing? He usually looks like a walking wicket when he tries to defend, but he obviously wasn't trying to hit everything as he's 44 / 75.

I'm in Dunedin and it's clear blue skies everywhere I can see.

*Official* First Test at The Gabba

I have to say for a side whose record in the last 9 tests is 0-0-7, the Aussies have certainly have had a lot to say for themselves before and during this match. Given what happened in Auckland earlier this year and Adelaide last year (Faf + de Villiers, was Adelaide yes?) I think perhaps...

*Official* First Test at The Gabba

I can't recall a single ball beating the outside edge all day. 135-6 is woeful.

*Official* First Test at The Gabba

Gonna be a long long summer for Australia if this is anything to go by. Of course last time England had a pretty bad first day and that wasn't an indicator of anything to come... Nice shot George.

*Official* First Test at The Gabba

Anyone not in Australia or England know if we can listen to TMS / Radio Australia? Just tried TMS via BBC and got the no-rights message.

    Worst World Cup winner

Decent if he could have two grabs at it and play under the one-bounce-one-hand rule maybe....

    Worse no. 6's than Ramdin

C'mon, Bravo averaged 31 point something vs Ramdin's 25 so he can't fit the thread. And when Bravo played, it's likely one of the openers was Daren Ganga or Devon Smith, so having your number 6 average 31 was not the line-up's most serious problem.... David Capel is a good call...

    Worse no. 6's than Ramdin

Definitely wasn't thinking of Greg Matthews when I started this thread! He belongs in a different "Collingwood" thread for "folk with crappy-looking techniques who really can't have been that good - can they? - but who somehow churned out really good numbers". Re Matthews, that obviously only...

    Worse no. 6's than Ramdin

Just wondering who the worst player ever selected to bat at number 6 would be? I'm not thinking of players who were picked and then shown not to be good enough for test cricket, so much as those who had demonstrated over a period of time that they weren't very good batsmen, but got put as...

Never quite sure about those ones. I thought to be run out you had to be attempting a run... so Stumped?

Seam movement - Random or not?

Sorry, I just skimmed earlier posts. No, I haven't read his autobiography, might have heard a commentator quoting it.

Seam movement - Random or not?

I'm pretty sure Ewen Chatfield said he just tried to get it to hit the seam on a good line and length, and what happened after than was beyond his (and hopefully the batsmen's) control. I'm equally sure that Richard Hadlee would have disagreed with this (though as an earlier poster mentioned...

Question- what is the last test hundred made without wearing a helmet?

When Lara had that monster series in Sri Lanka, did he bat without a helmet for much of his innings?
