    **Official** English Football Season 2023/24

I don't quite get it, myself. If I was going to find fault with Ramsdale it would be that he's maybe not the tallest keeper, but he's taller (and younger) than Raya. But surely we aren't spending £40m on a #2 keeper? & why would Raya come if he's playing second fiddle?

Dealt with Johnny Frog pretty comfortably in the 6 Nations, tbf.

    Series Predictions Thread

Jeez, what an absolute **** show. Winner and scoreline: England 3-1 - Not a million miles off, tbf. Most runs for each: Duckett & Smith - Pfft. Most wickets for each: Robinson & Cummins - Ditto Compton-Miller Medal: Duckett - Think I was deffo pushing the wee fella's cart a tad hard...

    2023 FIFA Women's World Cup

:-O Messrs Baresi, Bergomi, Maldini, Gentile, Cannaravo et al choking on their espressos at the very idea of a ploppy Italian defence.

    Halfway - Combined XI

In Paddy's defence he was palpably cream crackered for the last couple of tests, which obviously affected his bowling. If we look at the series as a whole though one struggles to make a case for him. Even if one finds a spot in the XI though he's an absolute hack of a captain; more of a ball...

Ha, an AB "crisis" usually involves a string of results most other nations would happily give up a bollock for.

    Halfway - Combined XI

Well, now the dust is settling on the series I'm having a bash at a combined XI: 1) Khawaja 2) Crawley 3) Stokes* 4) Root 5) Brook 6) Marsh 7) Bairstow + 8) Woakes 9) Starc 10) Broad 11) Lyon Bit of a fiddle fitting Sir Ben in at 3, but he did play there and I couldn't in good conscience...

*Official* Fifth Test (The Oval, London) 27-31 July

Some shot from Mo, that straight drive. Just leaned on it, as the old cliche has it.

Interesting tussle, actually. Both have that kinda pugnacious welterweight build. Have to take the younger man (Punter must be nearly 50 now), but the Ponting of 2005 would've maybe got the nod. Bloke was about 90% forearm.

Is there a rule that states Aussie off spinners must, in no way whatsoever, resemble a professional athlete? Thought Lyon was an unpromising specimen, but Murphy looks like a young Rick Moranis. Honey, I blew up my bowling average.

Not sure Carey is that big an upgrade, tbh. Give you the other two though. EDIT: I'd actually say Paine is a better captain than Paddy too.

    I mean, if they <25 I'd say it's acceptable. But if they're over 30 there's no excuse.

He's very easy on the eye once he's in, isn't he? Mind you, so was Daren Ganga, so it's no guarantee of long term success.

Huh. Poor show. Must be a while since we've had 5 bowlers with 100 test wickets in the XI too.
