Yeah, Essex badly hit by the loss of Mills after two overs. Topley injured, or rested? Think I heard one of the comms mention earlier that KP is going to be available for Championship matches for Surrey soon - not that surprised actually.

That's about £30, not dirt cheap but I've seen worse in second-hand shops here. I do wonder if dealers want to shift their stock sometimes. Patrick Eagar is the son of the onetime Hampshire captain Desmond, I'm not sure if he's still active but cricket books in the 70s and 80s were full of his work.

He might not be England's top wicket taker for much longer but 33 years on Ian Botham's greatest hour can still provide a good read: Cricket Web - Cricket Books: 500-1: The Miracle of Headingley '81 I didn't know there'd been an Alan Ross anthology, will have to seek that one out. I'm sure a...

You know the glove punch thing has got out of hand when batsmen do it after byes. What did they say, "well left?"

Channel 5 fob their viewers off with half an hour of highlights - including an interview with Ian Bell. For some reason they couldn't manage 45 minutes (plus ad breaks) from two and a half hours' play.

Ton up for Jonny B, England still breathing.

    New Zealand 'A' Tour of U.K., 2014

Yep, his first 5-for in one-day cricket - and he's in now. Smith gone. Bit of a pressure wicket that, only two singles had come from the previous seven balls.

We have a match now, 20 overs bowled - and there's no guarantee of that today. Lions struggling somewhat at 94-4.

Tie at the Oval - but that was a missed opportunity for Surrey. Needed 16 off the last over and Ansari began with 6, 2, 6.

Massive win for Essex, 12 overs to spare thanks to a Jesse special and a near run-a-ball 84 from Westley. Yes I agree about Mitchell, only 30 too, first to 1000 runs this year wasn't he? Should have counted for something. And Billings is starting to come good yes, Kent's treatment of Jones...

Another round of 50-overs game starting today - Sussex v Durham on Sky later. Bit of a surprise to see TE Bailey lining up for Lancs!

Good match, but another that makes rather a nonsense of coloured outfits.

I couldn't grow one now anyway unless I wanted to look like Edward VII. Gordon recovering well, target slipping out of reach.

Yes, well spotted. Situation tailor-made for Napes, surely.

Jeets hasn't always been this hirsute has he? One of the many big beards in cricket at the moment. 56 wanted off the last three.

Reckon the Bears needed that. 30 off 10 balls, all the momentum was with Essex.

And the sixes just keep coming. 15 an over is nothing to be scared of.

I just saw a young lad in the stands wearing a helmet. Don't laugh, fast forward 10 years and every spectator will have to wear one.

Went the distance in the end - finally - Lancs winning by just one run. The killer over was the triple wicket-maiden (!!) by Jordan Clark. Birmingham - still takes some getting used to, that - look home and hosed here.
