    **Official** English Football Season 2025/26

RIP. I had heard yesterday but I have been travelling.

    2nd Test (Edgbaston) - July 2nd

Jofra Archer in England squad for second Test against India at Edgbaston - BBC Sport Archer is back in the squad. I think it would be nuts to play him for a bit. He clearly needs more county games to assess where he's at.

*Official* Australia Tour of West Indies 2025

Seales is clearly a very good bowler and Shamar is very talented although appears to have been a bit injury prone (edit, he has only every played 15 FC games, 8 of which are tests)? They also have good spinners but they clearly need to ditch Alzarri.

What have we learned from the 1st test?

Re Jadeja, some Indian fans are thinking he is very close to the end, but to be honest he has often only been used as a defensive stalwart when he has played here. It is difficult to judge, but as I said, I thought Bashir bowled quite decently and we forget he is still so young. I also think...

*Official* Australia Tour of West Indies 2025

]I thought he should be started at with some proper short stuff as that has done for him a fair few times in the past?

    Player Ratings Thread

Ok 7 then. I slightly marked him down because of the nature of the innings and not the overall score.

    Player Ratings Thread

Crawley 6 Duckett 10 Pope 8 Root 7 Brook 6 (very lucky first innings marks him down and it balanced out a bit with leg side strange 2nd dig) Stokes 7 (mostly for bowling) Smith 6 (keeping marks him down a bit) Woakes 5 (gets a bit of a mark up for his batting first dig) Carse 6 (I thought a...

What have we learned from the 1st test?

Re England, I think you are being a bit harsh on Bashir. He actually bowled pretty well in the first innings, with as much control as I'd seen him and in the context of a pitch that didn't really deteriorate he didn't do that badly. There has been a bit too much of a focus on bowling figures...

    1st Test (Leeds) - 20th June

I have to say that shocks me. They are going to have too few runs to play with.

England players and selection discussion thread

I was partially thinking about the age factor, but I think you still need to factor in his experience, at least for a couple of games given the inexperienced players in the attack.

    Cricket obituaries

I vaguely remember him from the start of my cricket watching journey although I can't claim a clear memory. RIP nonetheless.

And there was me sort of expecting Duckett to pass up the opportunity of a ton! That said, India have been charitable in dropping him....

    Lions tour 2025

It's a fair point. I suppose they could play one or two select XVs along with the Jaguares. There are a few players from Uruguay who play in France, but yeah it wouldn't be easy to get games of appropriate standard in between.

    1st Test (Leeds) - 20th June

Isn't he a bit of a fragile mess because over the last year or so, he's practically been the only show in town for India with the ball?

    Lions tour 2025

I think a tour to Argentina would be banging. I've visited the country once albeit to BA and the southern Andes. They do like their rugby tradition in Argentina too. PS, I said on the first page that I didn't think too much of southern Hemisphere origin players getting picked for the Lions. No...

England players and selection discussion thread

I will admit I didn't get to see yesterday's play. What I did see is that Carse bowled pretty well on Friday evening and I was even impressed with Bashir's role where his ability to get drop on the ball did help create some uncertainty for the batters. However, when I had watched Woakes and...

England players and selection discussion thread

Has to be said that Woakes has looked really innocuous in this current game. A bit of context is that he's barely played this season, but even so that's worrying that a) he's not got back to the general low 80s where he's been most effective and b) has been down at mid 70s and batters get down...

And the other side of the coin, how the blazes has Krishna got three wickets bowling junk?

Jeez, again utterly dumb. That said he rode his luck a bit too often.
