eddie, do you consider both Hussain and Stewart in the firing line?? I thought they'd be two of the guys who'd be safe for the remainder of this season, but I doubt either (we know Stewart won't be) will be there next year....... From what i can gather, Ed Smith has to get a run and that would...

Flintoff batting very well at the moment - chancing his arm and coming off, and I'd say it break or make for him, at least for his short term future anyway - I would've though that axe was dangilng very close to the jugalar up until about 2 hours ago..... I'm still unchanged on him though -...

After the Don, who is Australia's best cricketer...

as it's obviousbly hard to compare the a bowler to a batsmen to a keeper to an allrounder. but a better way to put it - if you and another captain lined up to pick two teams of the best Australian's to play against each other, the first captain would pick Don Bradman, as the second captain who...

Re: The penny has dropped This, as I've harped on before, stems from the amount of FC cricket which is being played. Too many teams, means too many players, playing to many games in to many competitions = too many guys not upto FC standard playing FC cricket, and the level of cricket is just...

I wouldn't say never - they've invested a lot of time into him and given him a good shot in the ODI's and he hasn't done *too* badly there, although he hasn't set the world on fire at the same time either.......

Ed Smith - currently leading the division 1 county run scorers.

Andrew Flintoff and Shane Watson have a lot of simlar qualities - big solid guys, who hit hard and bowl with abit of pace but ordinary actions. Seemed to got through their junior years with such a great reputation on the basis that they were a lot stronger than other guys. When Watson gets his...

I wouldn't drop Hussain though..........maybe. i'm not sure - he's a bit of an anchor in the middle order at the moment, and he's batting better than he ever has in recent years (averaging 45 in the last two years), but as mentioned above in that period he has only scored three tons, two of them...

yea thats a point but I'd suggest they are. Anderson and Gough are definetaly guys to be in the team for now, whilst if Hoggard and Johnson were there, that is a reasonable four pronged pace attack. I don't think Gough will ever get back to his best, so I don't think he'll be around next...

yea but under Smith South Africa seem to have a bit of youthful enthuasiasm about them, and the Aussies are probably the weakest they've been for a while (which probably shows how strong they have been)...... But we don't play them for quite a while I don't think so by than a lot can change...

But Giles isn't good. He's not even decent. So he may have produced the bacon in one test series, but if you get enough chances your bound too. At the moment, he seems to be in the team because the Poms want to have a spinner in there - you might as well play 4 quicks if you don't have a spinner...

Here's a rough blueprint for a "rescue mission" for the Poms. People have the impression that there is improvement, but personally I haven't seen it, at least not to the extent that they are claiming. First off, as of the next test - Giles, Harmison, Flintoff and McGrath MUST be dropped. They...

what other injuries have they got?? All is not too bad if they've still got those two to come back in. Just looking up a few things around CricInfo, and although we know Giles isn't a wickettaker, but this is just pathetic - in his last 9 tests, only 6 times has he managed to take more than 1...

and what about Matthew Hoggard?? is he injured too?? Here we go, McGrath into the attack - he may just cement his spot as a bowler ;) No, no, no chance of that - Smith double ton of his first ball :D

as I said, Gareme Smith is a huge talent, but they are making him look like Don Bradman., Where is that Dick Johnson guy gone?? Is he injured??

yeah Anderson has quite a lot of technical faults in his game, another being his head just as he hits his devilery stride. But I still think he is probably the most talented of your young bowlers - just needs some coaching. Harmison is completely useless, and seems to be lacking in fitness to...
