Agreed, I can't be bothered to look it up, but how did Chelsea qualify?
Because they won CL in 2021, the qualifying period. I don't know how the likes of Benfica are there too. At least Auckland City FC have won the Oceania CL a few times. That said, they are semi pro and Auckland FC (a separate club) and Wellington Phoenix play in the Aussie A League.

I'm struggling to figure out the meritocracy of certain teams being in the tournament I must say and not just them.
I think it's got something to do with a coefficient score over a certain time period... I heard somewhere that Liverpool would need to win the UCL next season to get enough points to qualify for the next one.

There is no 'meritocracy' to it - they threw Miami in there just so Messi could play. Apparently they had nowhere near enough points to be there.

I honestly like the concept but the design and organisation of it all has been rubbish.

My take away has been the South American teams are every bit as good as their European counterparts and Saudi not too far behind in all honesty. The MLS still has gone nowhere from a quality standpoint.

Not excellent.
Very odd. All reports are he wants to stay but just cant agree terms.

Would be a huge loss if he walks as he's been comfortably your most important midfielder the past two seasons. Will also rachet up the pressure on Zubimendi to hit the ground running.

You're sort of right; Wafer's non-CL winning spots are decided by a coefficient but Liverpool comfortably had enough points to qualify.

Only Bayern, PSG, Dortmund and Inter were ranked above them.

They didn't qualify because Wafer and/or FIFA somewhat arbitrarily imposed a "two clubs per country" limit. As yer Chavs and Citeh both won CLs in the four years before the tournament they automatically got England's slots.

FTR Leipzig, Barca & Napoli were all similarly shafted.

Shafted or thankful?

Oh I see, well that is more understandable.
He is also a complete fool at times who has cost us in some huge moments.

Considering his age, his worsening fitness - the idea he’s been out most important midfielder for the last two years is laughable considering our best season coincided with him missing 30+ games - and then his wages I don’t think it’s a bad thing to let him walk.

Signing him to a big multi year deal would turn into an albatross real quick.

All 5 games you lost in 23/24 were games he didn't play. In fact, the most decisive of those games (against Villa) he was an unused sub. Of the 14 games he played, you won 12 and had 2 draws. That speaks to his importance.

Admittedly it was odd he started the season at RB but he was a huge reason you guys stayed in the title run home.

Partey is seriously underrated. His body has let him down but his ability to break lines with his passing is amongst the best the league has seen in the last two decades and a world class skill no one else in your squad has. As a Liverpool fan I hope he does leave.

Eng U21’s into the Final of the Euros where it looks like they’ll meet the Germans (who beat them 2-1 in the group). A decent chance of defending their title. Starting to think Carsley might’ve been a better option to Tuchel!
