  • Any idea how many/how well Chris Gayle has gone in FC matches over the past year or so?
Ews can you pull up the youth world cup thread up,as the quad series starts in a few days time, aust, ind,nz and england(pat cummins too),too far back to find the thread, thanx.
The formula is of the type: a*(1-1/s)^x1*l^y1 for batsmen, and a*(1+1/s)^x2/l^y2 for bowlers where a is your adjusted average, l is the longevity score and s is the sample size. x1, y1, x2, y2 are constants - the worst thing about the whole thing is that I choose the value of the constants according to my whims and fancies to come up with the ranking I like most (or dislike least). I work on only batsmen with at least 30 dismissals and bowlers with at least 30 wickets. Recently I have put in one more constraint to put a check on my fancies - I adjust the constants in such a way that the resulting adjusted average of exactly 50% of batsmen (and bowlers) are higher than their normal average (I mean 'normal average', not your adjusted one).
btw I have asked quite a few people on VM to send in their list......and I haven't started the write ups yet.....I hope people are not disappointed with the write ups in the end lol
PEWS......reminder for you to send in your vote......tomorrow, Thursday, is the deadline....
haha.....maybe but at least it is not an unfair mean :p.....

but I really want people to participate tbh
hey dude, don't forget to send in your top 25 for CW top 50....the more members we have voting the better
Thanks man. But I won't need it this time. It is an empirical formula with the help of 3 factors - your adj average, maturity score and sample size (no. of times dismissed for batsmen, and no. of wickets for bowlers) - and I keep on tinkering with the formula every now and then according to my whims and fancies. In short, there's nothing too scientific with the methodology ATM. I think your data was just a few months' old, my formula is based on that. I don't think the data have changed drastically since then.
...I've thought of simply ranking each bowling attack in each country and then using it to modify their average to get their points number but that would not only be an extreme amount of work but also inconsistent and regularly inaccurate due to the nature of the pitch, overhead conditions and bowlers, which may all be more batsmen friendly than was initially thought months ago.

Basically I need something along the lines of a DoG analysis but not for individual innings but for several series. If you have any ideas that could help it would be much appreciated.

    Cheers, Cabinet96.
Hey, I was wondering if you could help me with some stats?

I'm running a thing at another forum which is kinda like a cross between fantasy cricket and a draft. Long story short it involves individual player averages over the course of a year of test cricket.

For the main part it will work on averages but I wanted something else which can determine how successful a player is over the course of a year. This can be modified with averages to get a points ranking for the player. For bowlers we are going to use the percentage of top order wickets but we need something for the batsmen which coincides with something such as top order wickets. Ideally I would need something that can be found out with statsguru and is recordable over a long period and not a match to match basis.
