  • I used to write on an indian forum many years ago, who knows, all quite similar people deep down! Yes this forum has a good feel to it with plenty of on/off field stuff as well as other sports.
Saw the first half then went out for a smoko. Gutted to see the result when I checked the next morning.
And I think there's a bit of resentment towards Glasgow in general because Aberdeen's always been an insignificant ****hole up until the discovery of oil in the 70s, and loads of guys went north from Glasgow because nobody in Aberdeen had a ****ing clue what to do with it.
That's the short answer. Long answer is Alex Ferguson always had a massive chip on his shoulder about being let go as a player by us (boyhood team etc etc), and the first instance of his patented "play mind games by spouting rubbish in the papers" was in the 80s at Aberdeen when he alleged that there was a refereeing bias in favour of the two Glasgow sides.

Aberdeen were the main force in the early 80s, which Rangers ended when Souness took over. Between 1987 and 1994 we beat them in 3 League Cup finals, a Scottish Cup final and they finished runners up to us 5 times in 6 seasons, so that stoked a bit of resentment (and in the middle of that there was a particularly nasty game up at Pittodrie in 1988 where Ian Durrant had his career destroyed by a horrendous "tackle" by Neil Simpson. Seriously, seek out a YouTube video - Durrant lost 2 and a half years of his career to that assault, and he would have been an absolute superstar.)
Because they're small town wankers with a massive chip on their shoulder about Glasgow. Celtic escape their ire because Celtic were complete **** in the late 80s/early 90s when Aberdeen were beaten to everything by us.
No worries, glad you liked it. I think you'll love the podcast, haven't spoken to anyone whose listened to it who doesn't. Whereabouts in England are you at?
Podcast for you. Serial. I'm hooked. I'm so hooked on this podcast that i'm watching podcast's about the podcast.
I think Brumbers is the biggest fan of it. It's okay, but not really going anywhere much. Not one of my faves, but Olyphant is good.
I agree next season you'll be fighting it out with Torquay in the conference play-offs, good to see you with a realistic expectation for once.
