Newcastle played great last night, Gordon’s absolutely insane tackle aside. Proper punch-you-in-the-mouth team, maybe the best one since Poch’s early Spurs team and Simeone’s early Atletico team. Imagine playing midfield against Joelinton, Guimares and Tonali. It’s like getting run over by a bus.

Newcastle's handling of Isak has been hilariously awful.
Serious lack of self-awareness as a football club. I feel for the fans in it all, they should be directing their anger firstly at the management rather than the player/Liverpool FC.

Unfortunately, they are a small fish in the food chain. Doing what they've done is going to turn prospective players away from the project and is futile in any case - they won't be getting the fee they're demanding.

I still expect the transfer to happen in the coming days.

Kind of surprised that no British team seems interested in Mainoo. Overpriced?
He’s really impressive for a 20yo midfielder, but I’m not sure he’s good enough to be a regular starter at a decent team yet. There’s no shame in it, even the best CMs in the league weren’t usually starting PL games at 20. But his profile has massively outpaced his development and that’s making it a whole saga.

Yeah it has been, should have taken the money..

Isak is on 120K a week not even the highest earner at Newcastle, if the club valued him at 150 million his wages should reflect that, add to the fact that Liverpool are title challengers and need a striker you can see why Isak would want to move. Never keep a player who doesn't want to stay and you can get big money for.

In the fag end of 2008-09 season it looked like Liverpool had a decent chance of winning the PL after 19 years. They were playing catch up to United but United were trailing/drawing at around the 70th minute in their games in April.

Enter their super-sub Federico Macheda who came and turned the games in their favour to dash the hopes of Liverpool fans. Liverpool ended up losing the league by four points.

It was pretty disappointing to see Macheda come in and bang those goals week after week. Too early but hope Ngumohu replicates the same this season.

I imagine Ngumohu has greater aspirations than replicating a player who outside of that one goal essentially achieved nothing.
Duh. Just want that feeling of a youngster taking us over the line to win the title. Of course I wish he goes on to have a career contrary to that of Macheda.

Rather than Macheda he should follow the path of a certain Wayne Rooney who lit up the prem at 16

Calvert-Lewin starting his Leeds career as he ended his Everton one. Can't hit a barn door. Missed 3 decent chances, one of them an absolute sitter and his penalty was atrocious. Get used to it Leeds fans.

Which part of "hope Ngumohu replicates the same this season" was tough to grasp?

This season he is most likely to be used as a sub alone. So would be nice to see him replicate Macheda of 2008-09 to overcome that depressing end to the season. Career wise I hope he goes on to be as successful as Rooney.

Lol you explicitly referred to Macheda banging in goals "week after week".

He scored 4 in 6 years.

Firstly you are spelling his name wrong, if you are going to get tetchy atleast get the basics right brother, it's Rio Ngumoha.

Secondly Macheda made like 4 league appearances and scored 2 goals which includes that winner vs Villa in that 08/09 season ,and it came very late in the season so already a bad example, you making Macheda out to be like he was some starboy supersub is just nostalgic BS. Macheda was a flash in the pan nothing more or less.
