Papali'i might be it for the future but we looked much worse than with Hawkins in the team. Also they spent the entire game just playing with the Rabbits instead of playing smart because most of the players are dumb as rocks.

Anyone else catch that the pass for Johnston’s try was a mile forward? Not that they’d dare take it off him
yep was at least a meter forward, and how tf was their bloke not sent to the sin bin for the deliberate ruck interference on their line?

don't get me wrong, souths were the better team and still would've won, but it's just terrible refereeing once again

Valiant for Savage to stay on but surely he’s gotta go off for the second half. They can’t use the left side at all. Though I guess I should root for them to keep him on

Terrible two minutes by Papynhausen there. Why go for a charge down there? Then gets carried over the line for the try by Hayward like the monstrous lightweight he is

canberra finding ways to win but they're the most fraudulent ways possible which gives me no confidence in them come finals
melbourne needing the bulldogs to sleep for the first twenty minutes, piss away a pair of tries and be dudded out of a third by a shithouse rule
panthers exposed as not being as clutch as they were in years past
doggies pretend that every game doesn't start until kurt mann comes on and have a coach who insists on playing around with the critta and kiraz combo for no reason

every team in the four has big flaws, the comp is wide open

It’s the most open comp in years. Last night only reinforced that.

Canterbury should have won that game. They had a stack of chances and played against 12 for 10 minutes. I’m still not sold on their forwards come finals time but Tupinua is a big in for the finals.

the cap has finally caught up with Penrith. Luai and JFH are two massive losses from last year. But they’re still very much in the mix.

Canberra I should like but Stuart coaches them and he’s human garbage so I can’t. Their forwards are terrific though.

Melbourne are just ***** and always have been. Post-2004, every shitbag act in the nrl has its genesis at AAMI Park. Wrestling, chicken wings, cannon balls etc etc

They only thing they didn’t invent was systemic salary cap rorting, which was pioneered by Canterbury.
Both clubs should have been kicked out of the league and are scum.

I think Canberra winning close games from behind is actually to their credit. A reverse from the old faders days. They also produce or pick out young players who then become top performers. This team has Weekes, Strange and Savage and brought on Timoko and Kris. They have to do this because they can’t buy a team like Easts can. They’re also good at keeping players like Papa and Tapine so the team has the feel of an old style club based on loyalty. Tapine, btw, is my pick as the game’s best prop. Every game from him is quality and effort.

My concerns is that they let teams get the drop on them and you can’t keep getting out of gaol. Maybe their youth will ironically count against them in the finals. I hope not. Would be great to see them get up and it would make second son very happy. He might wear his jersey until the end of summer. He’s worn it all winter as is.

Warriors a long way from perfect again tonight, but we needed a big win and it's looking like we'll get it.

Edit: I liked the look of 32-6 a lot more than 32-18, but never mind.

i think that the coming from behind thing shows strength when it’s against the panthers or manly but to your point in the next paragraph when you keep having to bail yourself out against teams like the tigers and knights and dragons it’s indicative of something more endemic imho; but to you and burgey’s point i love their forward pack tapine and big papa are awesome and they’re great for the game too. but i just dont believe in their backline at all really

I think that’s the worry. I’ve seen them a few times this year and they struggled for a long while against the knights and dolphins. I’m guessing that could be a consequence of a young team being inconsistent. Whatever the reason it’s a worry.

Kind of disagree on the backs. I think they’re great and well worth the watching. They have pace and line breaking power. Jamal leads them beautifully. They do let in a try though.
