What would be your XI to beat this SC XI?

He was brilliant on flat ass pitches, imagine him on turners. He's a must, and I'll say something no one else agrees with.

The ROW is an even match with that team. The batting is strong with proven performers in the SC and against spin, and a bowling attack of Steyn, Marshall, O'Reilly and Laker at least matches in quality.
It's not equal. SC has an extra worldclass pacer.

And much better lower order batting especially if you are going with Knott, Marshall, Steyn vs Imran, Ashwin and Wasim.

No thanks. I will have him as my number 7 ahead of Bumrah so that my team wins. Bumrah comes in for Ashwin as the third pacer in pitches not aiding spin much.
Sheesh tough crowd. Well I tried.

I don't mind Jadeja though ahead of Bumrah on spin wickets. He just wouldn't be in my starting default XI.

Who really cares if it goes the same way?

It's the quality of the bowlers that matters.

But in Benauds case, I truly think he was a tactical genius up there with Taylor.
Was he though?

While he's noted as a great captain, always read more leader of men along the likes of Worrell.

If incorrect I gracefully stand corrected.

Cook and Root must be in the mix given their records. No other English player though unless you went for Anderson but I would think you can get a better attack without him.

Not sure where you got that, he was known for fielding innovation and aggressive tactics.

Limiting it to players I've watched:

Cook
Kirsten
Smith
Kallis
Jayawardene
Thorpe
Gilchrist
Jadeja
Akhtar
Steyn
McGrath

Mahela is an absolute must in Asian conditions imo. Thorpe over Lara is wrong I know, but I just really enjoyed Thorpe's batting in SL/Pak in 2000. Some tremendous batting in tough conditions. Wanted to fit Kapil/Asif in there too somehow but couldn't.
