**Official** English Football Season 2025/26

Him being charged coinciding with his contract ending feels somewhat suspect. It's pretty implausible that the evidence needed to bring charges only materialised in the last week or so, given that the allegations surfaced years ago, so why on earth he wasn't charged sooner is anyone's guess.

Feels a bit like they gave him a grace period to finish the season/his contract, which (if true) is pretty dire.
It's a bit odd, isn't it? Is that on the police? Or were there NDAs in place that expired when the contract ended?

I mean, I have no evidence for this whatsoever, but the obvious implication is that Arsenal did a deal with the Rozzers/CPS to not press ahead until the season/his deal ended. I'd hope this wasn't the case, because that would be shady af and just outright wrong, but it's difficult to believe the timing of all this is coincidental.

Could it be that they thought he was about to leave the country for good, and so had to get things done now even if the case wasn't quite ready?

Good faith explanation where one probably isn't warranted though.

It’s absolutely shameful . Glad he’s finally out the door but

I don’t think this is quite the case as it sounds like we offered him a new deal. So I don’t think there’s any element of conspiration.

The fact we offered him a new deal whilst this was hanging over his head is a new thing entirely is another thing altogether.

I can appreciate not suspending him due to an element of innocent until proven guilty but the ‘circumstantial’ evidence (I.e. pretty compelling evidence that was circulating on social media) would’ve meant my preference would have been for us to walk away at the end of this year.

A fairly poor reflection on the club as a whole

That is surely why. Arsenal deserve the benefit of the doubt, I don't yet believe there was any sort of deal with authorities.

He's also innocent until proven guilty but there's already enough evidence over the years to say he's a dog **** bloke. I hope the victim is okay.

I don't hate this at all.
As a rival I'd be happy if Arsenal did this. He's not a needle mover in any way, or an improvement on Martinelli. Decent enough depth option but there are far better wingers available on the market.

Edit: reading news now and looks like it'll force Nwaneri out too.

Also just watching a replay of the PSG v Bayern game. How the hell that tackle on Musiala wasn't a red (or yellow for that matter) I have no idea. Disgusting stuff I hope it's not as serious as it looked.

We haven’t even bid for him yet, so a while away from a ‘here we go’

He’s young and good but isn’t he a left footed right winger who isn’t particularly suited to playing anywhere else? Arsenal are a weird fit.

It would be classic Arsenal to finally sign a top quality striker and then go and sign Noni Madueke to send the fanbase into meltdown. Hilarious stuff.

All these Diaz rumours resurfacing are also starting to annoy me, the audacity of Barca and Bayern to approach the player in these circumstances is disgusting. If the player has any inkling to force the club's hand right now he's going to ruin any legacy he has. Read the room.

I presume you'll be raging if Liverpool try and conduct transfer business?

Heard a quote today that "football is the most meaningful of meaningless things" and that sums it up pretty well.

I know the guys that run the show are businessmen and they have to do what's best for the club however, as a fan base (as I'm sure is the case for the players) I think we need time to mourn and pay our respects. I won't be 'raging' but I'll be disappointed if we do anything this week. There will come a time its appropriate to re-engage with that but it's not right now.

Encouraging is that the big fan channels and media outlets I follow haven't resumed normal transfer rumours and that stuff.

I live on the other side of the world and have struggled with it over the last few days so I can't imagine what it's like in the city itself.

I think it’s a dick move to police how other people mourn a tragedy like that, especially one that they have a direct connection to and you don’t.
I have not seen much of that this time around thankfully. Although I'm not on Twitter or Reddit, I'm sure its out there.

One thing that has made me proud is how the club has responded. The social media tributes, paying out the contract to his family and retiring his shirt number etc are fantastic moves. I haven't seen any of the videos yet but I intend to get around to them.

We're more unified than ever and while we will never move on, I am confident we will move forward. The build up to the Liverpool v Wolves game around Christmas will be emotion like the PL has never seen before.
