South Africa team selection

Braithwaite and Shamar Joseph came in here. The batting had lots of players from their last test match in the first game too.

I would like to think our batting could deal with the bowling on view yesterday. At least someone stepping up and Ruan de Swardt did.
The two young spinners also showing fight with the batting is also good to see.

Peter's few overs in the first innings he was bowling with much better flight than in the T20is. Obviously, there is a trend towards flatter leg spin in those games, but it felt like compared to the domestic T20s where he was so successful, he had doubled down on the flatter, shorter strategy, possibly coaches whispering in his ear?

SA A on the brink of a clean sweep.

How worrying is it seeing Windies cricket like this? 9 of that 11 are in their test squad announced yesterday to play Australia.

Without wanting to diminish anything... because I`m very much looking forward to today and this match... I am feeling that people are putting a bit to much pressure and expectation on this SA team, what winning this would mean for SA cricket and more (i.e. the pressure on ICC etc). I`m quietly optimistic but not wanting to get carried away. This is a very good Aussie team and the SA team is trending in right direction but is still proving themselves, still building.

I`m just finding some of the build-up very over the top and I`m worried SA cricket is going to come down with a thump if we lose...

I`m probably just being overly cautious and cynical...

You are mate! 😂

Just enjoy it. I think the proper cricket people know exactly where our test team is. But at least there are buds of hope again.

Was just thinking now.

I can remember going into every single game we played believing we would win. Even against that Great Great Australian team (bar 1 or 2 heavy moments lol). That was our quality & belief that we had built up.

The last 10 years have given me a look through a different lens. I don't know if we will ever look through that first lens but one thing is for sure, this country should always be competitive in cricket.

Are Supersport involved in the hype on some level? This feels like their type of behaviour

I think it has gotten to a point now that they can't find a spot for Mulder. He should be batting in the top 6. Probably at 6 is best. And if he can't do that, then they probably need to pick another player.

Is there a question over Verreynne batting at 6? Are they not comfortable with him doing it.

And I'm kinda over Markram... he has just become the next Duminy. And I would rather move on particularly in the text team.

It’s just so out of the blue for me. It took him forever to find his feet and when he does we chuck him up to 3? Markram has hit his ceiling. Expect an awesome innings every now and then and then this.

The coaches want Mulder to be Jacques Kallis so bad , the media does too ever since he broke into the U19 SA team , the truth is he's nowhere that level of quality and that's okay because few are , what Mulder brings to the table is that he's a handy lower order bat who can offer you control with the ball with the odd wicket or two. The sooner they lower this ridiculous expectation that he's an elite all rounder the better he will play. He's not a kid anymore , he's 27 and yet to play an ODI WC or average above 25 in test cricket because we can't accept his level, which is somewhere between Andrew Hall and Brian McMillan.

U19 Captain
Mulder is basically Mitch Marsh (minus the Tests against England). Passenger of a cricketer.
Abit harsh to say passenger of a cricketer , stubbs or bedingham must make way or one of them bat 3 one bat 5 or bavuma move to 3 and than 3 ,5 and Mulder 6 or 7 verynne 6 or 7 .
