South Africa team selection

Indeed. I'm not saying I want them all there for 2027 but at least you get the feeling with Bavuma, Vd Dussen & Miller they have a love for the game that they remember from being young lads & don't take playing for the Proteas for granted.

Not a personal attack on Klaasen as he isn't the only player that will look after himself and his families financial security.
Let's just say we've seen this movie before, Ab De Villiers, Quinton De Kock , Heinrich Klaasen..

Klaasen hasn't really achieved what the other two did , and he seems fine with that , we've got talented players coming through who will get a chance

Just goes to show that you can never paint people with the same brush. Out of all of these guys I would have loved Klaasen to hang around because he can absolutely win you a game from his bat, but it’s obvious players in a similar boat like Miller and Rassie want to play for the Proteas. We have always known that from Miller though, yeah he gave up FC cricket but he has always been an in demand T20 batter but never skipped turning up for SA. I have a special admiration for him. Not just because he is from KZN!
One of my all time favorites because of how much he values playing for the proteas. Could have easily walked away after some heartbreaks over the years.

With the money Klaasen's already earned, you would think he's pretty secure financially.

The Rapport article does say that by only playing in those chosen leagues he gets to spend 6-7 months at home. If playing for the Proteas would mean that he'd spend less time at home then I have more sympathy for his decision that if it's just going after the money.

Sa A vs west indies a started, if you aren't watching the tennis...https://www.youtube.com/live/xAdUB7xO4XM?si=_JYb7rogFmkGTF01 . Sa gone with all 4 reserves. Lineup seems a batter light with Mpongwana at 6, but that's the nature of an a series. Engelbrecht, Peter and Cele all bat at xi for their provinces, though I'm told Engelbrecht is a decent bat...

Can't be too critical but that can also be an easy cop-out. I mean the Baseball league the Hundred and has he really had to do a lot of travelling in recent years.

They always start with this spend more time with the family angle .Then keep adding more and more leagues to their schedule. Qdk & abd also claimed the family angle.

I can't sympathise with Klaasen's conduct, he's gone for the money when he could have kept playing the big T20 leagues and still be available for South Africa. Everyone has families, including the guys busting a gut for SA A right now in the Caribbean for the honour to get a Test Cap down the line, not the most lucrative prospect in cricket today but it means something, just like the South African team means something, none of the cricketers today would be where they are if it wasn't for the sacrifices made by the previous generation of cricketers and administrators in the country. The same pipelines that made you into the cricketers you are today , a lot of volunteers and passionate people built those pipelines. Some of the greatest cricketers of all time were denied the right to play cricket in this country across the board, now you got players using SA as a springboard to get into T20 leagues and retiring at 30/31/32 ..Cry me a river hey.

De swart will bat 6 and mpongwana 7 and then peters and engelbrecht.

Both Nqaba Peter & Schalk Engelbrecht have been earmarked SA's future spinners but they have some way to go and experiences to get through that I hope Kesh is around for a while yet.

PS again so many of the main test players are in this Windies A team. Sad state of affairs. These bowling attacks arent the highest quality we've put out at SA A level.

Graeme Smith set be the 8th South African inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame later today.

That after Faulkner, G Pollock, Richards, Donald, S Pollock, Kallis, AB de Villiers

Love this attitude. He wants 200 more after he gets 2 more. He can play till 45 and be Dada or Baba (is it?) Maharaj.

“I never really thought about it. For me, it has always been about doing my job for the team. The personal accolades don’t really matter, as long as the team is winning,” said Maharaj.

“Hopefully I can add 200 more before I am done. As long as I can keep getting in the team, I just want to keep improving, trusting my skill set and contributing for the country.”

Not the greatest batting performance when we should have piled on the runs. SA A trail by 90 with 5 wkts in hand.

Night watchie, Nqaba Peter, top scorer at the moment.

West Indies A have put a much stronger team in this game , 8 players capped at Test level , Kraigg Brathwaite, Shamar Joseph, Jomel Warrican, Athanaze are even starters ..

The fact these A players are more than holding their own is a big credit to them.

Braithwaite and Shamar Joseph came in here. The batting had lots of players from their last test match in the first game too.

I would like to think our batting could deal with the bowling on view yesterday. At least someone stepping up and Ruan de Swardt did.
