Top 50 Greatest test batters

He makes up for that by scoring against Imran in Pakistan, though.

I just told you, he averaged 40 in NZ without the flat wicket in his first game, 40 in England, 48 in WI, never played on dustier Pakistan wickets, never played on spinny indian wickets, all by just tests
When convenient you ignore his runs against Hadlee in 82 or against top WSC pacers in WI.

Not that much lower than Lara late 90s, Sanga early career or Root mid 2010s. Just that it last longer perhaps.
Ponting was a brilliant batsman for about 4-5 years, other than that he was run of the mill, others have maintained brilliancy for much longer.

never did that, I said he has one good knock against Hadlee and I said I'm going by tests only
You didn't mention it until I brought it up or the three tons and 90 in the WI WSC tests.

He objectively has a better record against top pacers than Gavaskar.

I said multiple times "Test record", you're just not keeping up.

No he wasn't, he failed 2001 BGT and was mid in the Ashes that year, bashed weak Indian bowling at-home.
Oh I'm sorry seems your criteria is that being brilliant in a period means no poor series at all. In that case Root hasn't been brilliant the last four years since he failed Ashes 2021 and the last series in India.

Why is the idea of Barrington being better than Dravid so outrageous?
Personally I view them as players of the same calibre but Ma1978 thinks Barrington is just plain average and below Sehwag and Gower and all.

My criteria for brilliance requires you to make quality runs and average 50+, Which Ponting did from 2002-2006 mainly.

I said "the people who turn a blind eye to Chappell's away record would not count WSC anyway.", Please keep up
I've already shown you, he is very consistent away overall. Only one poor and one mid series. WSC is simply too brilliant a series to ignore.
