Is there a team that can beat this Asian ODI XI?

Yeah but with Bradman and to a lesser extent Gilchrist, imo you can afford that. But i can understand the argument against Hadlee being so high.
Sobers also means you can bat properly to 7. There's no need to play five specialist bowlers if you have him in there IMO.

Lol yeah tempting but seeing that I'm from the WI, that would've been a little too biased on my part...
Nah man, he definitely deserves to be in the reckoning. Would think he or Hammond would be in the mix for a middle order spot, Gilchrist to seven and drop O'Reilly unless you're playing in spin friendly conditions. If you're up for some variety, Davo as a left arm option for Hadlee brings a lot to the table as well.

They would destroy anyone in Asia
Don't forget the Windies would have Sobers (worth 2 or 3 players), Lara (genius player of spin), Weekes (averaged 111 in India with 4 100s), and Headley in the middle order (sorry Viv) along with an insane bowling attack.

Australia would have Bradman at 3, Miller at 6 so suddenly have more options. The side would bat deep with Gilly at 7, Benaud at 8 (8 matches in India for 52 wickets at 18.38 and 4 in Pakistan for 19 wickets at 21.89), Davidson or Lindwall at 9, Warne or O'Reilly at 10, and McGrath at 11. AB would be a useful 6th bowler if needed. Actually AB wouldn't make the side ahead of Smith and G Chappell.

An all time Saffa side with Aubrey Faulkner and Tayfield bowling spin and a 4 man pace attack led by Steyn would be a chance too if they scored enough runs.

Imran, Wasim, Waqar and Murali are locks in the side.

First, Kapil is not the 5th best bowler. He was a good swing bowler but short of worldclass status. The only other worldclass bowlers are Shoaib, Fazal, Asif and Bumrah. Any one of them can play instead of Kapil and the bowling will be stronger.

If you are playing in an ATG XI, you need to be worldclass level in at least one discipline. Sobers is an ATG-level bat and therefore they can justify his lesser bowling. Imran is an ATG-level bowler and they can justify his lesser batting. Kapil is not ATG or worldclass in either discipline.
What? Kapil was a World class bowler.
Asif and Bumrah has longevity issues.

Kapil played 44 matches outside SC and averaged 30.78
Fazal and Shoaib played 23 matches combined. Fazal averaged 33.42, Shoaib averaged 30.12

If Sobers as 5th bowler is fine because he averaged 55 with bat, then Bradman deserves to be the opening bowler.
( Sobers is fine.. Because he was a decent bowler )

These five are the five clear bonafide ATGs in Asia.

The rest are regular greats or what you call ATVG.
Kapil Dev is much more than regular ATG.
He was a combination of Anderson bowling and Klusner batting. His bowling skills alone ensures a selection in any team in the history ( possible exception 80s WI)

Kapil averages nearly 30 overall with a SR of 63. He is a fine bowler but not a worldclass bowler no matter how you try to stretch it.

Shoaib played in a far tougher bowling era and had better number in and outside the SC. There is no doubt he is a better bowler than Kapil.

My point is that if you are in an ATG XI as an all-rounder, you are inevitably occupying a batting or bowling spot, so you need to be wordlclass level in that discipline to ensure there is no drop in quality.

I don't think those 4 seamers are always as you'd often want 2 or 3 spinners
Test 11 Locks
Gavaskar
Sachin
Imran
Kapil
Wasim
Waquar
Murali
I don't think those 4 seamers are necessarily locks (just Imran and Wasim). There will also be conditions outside the SC when 2 spinners should be used. Interesting that Shakib rated (only just) ahead of Kapil in the CW allrounder vote a few months ago.

If I am picking a RoW or non SC ATG side and I want a certain level of variety, I would want to have Davidson and Hadlee opening the bowling and maybe Garner as the enforcer 3rd seamer with Sobers and Warne as the spin back up, with Sobers also doubling up as the 4th seamer where needed.
