Average players who were inexplicably great against strong teams

Stephen Fleming absolutely owned Murali in Sri Lanka. 733 runs in 5 tests in Sri Lanka at 104.71
2 daddy 100s (274 and 174* on different tours along with 3 50s). Talentwise Fleming should've averaged about 45 but his terrible 50s to 100s conversion rate and only averaging 33 in NZ put paid to that.
Yeah good call. Fleming owned Murali more than anyone apart from Lara.

Didn't Vaas own him in NZ, lost a series at home if I remember correctly.

International Coach
Yet another thread where the answer is Jadeja
True. He has very average Test career stats but over-performs against Australia (averaging 18.86) and S.A. (19.10) when he has taken almost half his Test wickets. He's very ordinary against the other 6 Test nations he has played against (29.72).

Really struggled in NZ (averages 60 here). Still a dangerous player.

Probably the one thread where the answer isn't Jadeja lol. Like saying Steve Smith is an average player who's inexplicably great against everyone.
