Smith was playing in that tournament as a legspinner. He then hit 80 odd from #9 or something in a low scoring test against Pakistan that summer and became an allrounder, then he batted 6 in the ashes that winter.

Then he was dropped for being **** forever and no one ever heard from him again, iirc

Yup. A fish paste sandwich and kagool for that man.
You've hit peak Howe cricket fandom there. Reckon I could name the England's XI from every game of that tournament. Is it because Tim Bresnan won England's first ever world cricket trophy? It might not be

I'd be tempted to let Livingstone bowl all four. And obviously I'll delete this if Morgan agrees and his final effort goes for plenty.
I'm already wrong with that wicket of Wade, though I expect much the same thing could have happened to the offie.

FMD these boundaries are huge. Batsmen not being able to just belt their way out of trouble and having to properly middle it for a six is so retro (and well suited to the game of the missing man, Joe Root)

England's rise as a limited overs side has been real quality. Easily the team that stands a chance to defeat Pakistan in current form.

Time for Cummins and Hazlewood to bowl those raging leg cutters and get England 36 all out.

Finch is looking ominous. If he stays for most of the innings, Aus are more than competitive here, given the quality of their attack.

If they hit 10 an over from here it'll still be 117. He'll have to do something pretty special
