Have you ever hit the winning runs?

Dunno when my indoor season starts...should be soon though! The weather certainly has turned into Indoor Cricket season weather! Cold, grey and sometimes wet! Can't wait to get back to playing again!

As for it being a dead ball after 1.. Obviously the umpires or scorers didn't know that because I just looked up the book again and in had 99no.. I also saw that I have been stuck not out in the 90's 4 times and out in the 90's twice. Only got past 100 once.
I must admit, it is a little known rule - and leads to a great little poser - see my separate post.

I have never hit the winning runs but I have had a match a where I could do no wrong.

It was a school game. We were 6/2 when I came to the crease. I played a get knock of 43 and it was in a partnership of 73 with this other guy. I top scored and the team made 143AO. We had to defend this score in 30 overs. It was very close. I came away with three wickets and a run out. The runout came at a critical time when they needed 11 of 13 balls. I bowled the next over and grabbed the final wicket.

Great feeling to know that you've won your team the game.:karate::karate::karate::karate::karate::duh::rolleyes::D;)8D:)

As wktkeeper, my team also knew that I could bowl at a sprightly pace during practice sessions.

In one match, our bowlers were being carted, so the captain threw me the ball during the last few overs.
Did so well, that he asked me to bowl the final over. Caught me by surprise as I wondered what the regular bowlers were thinking.

How often has a wktkeeper been asked to bowl the final over ?

Yes, only once I can think of. Got randomly pulled into a game with randoms when I was supposed to be running errands. Ended up batting the last over and hit 2 fours to win it. Then I got home and got the worst thrashing I ever had because apparently I was gone for hours. My mother was worried sick and walked all over the neighborhood looking for me. I think she broke her sandal on me that day.

Worth it though.

I've done it a few times. Once we need one to win and I was on 96 so I wanted to hit a four. I only managed 3 though so was left on 99 not out. It is a good feeling though.
I thought my story was going to be the daftest until I read this.

But anyway, early 80's I was playing for a local retailer in a charity match against the local constabulary. It was predominately village green level or below, but the coppers had a quick bowler who at County level was way too good for almost everyone else. After knocking over the first two with the first three balls he was asked to cut his pace for the rest of his four over allocation. He bowled 2.3 overs of spin and then returned for the last over. 4 were needed to win. He had three dot balls and two wickets. I faced the last ball. To be fair he didn't put anything extra into it. It was just loopy full toss that I hit into the trees for 6. The ball was never found. Absolute fraud, but looked good in the two paragraphs afforded to it in the local press.
