Meet Kyle Jamieson, a 6’8 James Anderson

International Regular
Good bit of commentary on him from Bishop on day 3, about how batsmen will find his inswinger easier to spot if he keeps bowling it so much. India obviously were waiting for it with the way they played him on day 2. Will always be fantastic for mopping up tailenders though.
Also be interesting to see how the LOs affect his game/average overall, or even if he's complete crap at them (relatively speaking) but Bradman-godly in tests and he drops LOs altogether at some point.

He’s a very good bowler but feels like he’s being made to look better than he is. Not often you get a bowler so tall that moves the ball sideways so guess they are struggling to adapt so far. It’s not like his FC average is under 20 though I haven’t bothered working out where it started maybe it’s been dipping for a while

Well he took 20 wickets at 10.85 from 3 games in the most recent Plunket Shield season.
In 2019/2020 he only took 4 at 28.75 from 2 games
In 2018/2019 he took 10 at 18.38 from 3 games

So last three years its been under 20

6'7" bloke who can nudge 140 when he wants to and swing it both ways with decent accuracy looks better than he actually is

Like I don't think anyone disagrees that there's gonna be a regression to the mean but a bloke with those kind of attributes in this era would have to catch some serious yips to drift above 25

Injuries and losing his way in limited overs cricket should probably be his biggest concern. The former in particular has ****ed over many promising careers.

He doesn't have a very nice looking action but I have no idea whether it's actually something that could be an issue. Maybe @Starfighter knows better.

If Anderson and Broad got into the transporter machine from The Fly, Jamieson is what would come out the other side.

Yeah weight through those legs is what concerns me. The action is simple but he's ****ing huge, not just in height but build. Could legit play pro-rugby if he was talented enough with his ball handling skills etc. Like the only way to h4x this more is if an All Black lock or loose forward took up bowling.

Which is why it's more annoying cricket lost allrounders Kaylum Boshier and Jordie Barrett (Barrett especially looked likely to be a 6 foot 5 pace bowling allrounder sending it down at 135kph and hitting a long ball).

Tbf my Hurricanes would be rekt if Jordie chose cricket.

He does bend or hunch to the side, but not as markedly, as say, Green. That would be the thing to watch for, but not as concerning as some other bowlers.

I know a lot of people compare him with Tremlett, who did pick up a back injury that reduced his pace noticeably, but Tremlett had a bit more a twist while Jamieson is better aligned and fairly side-on.

Now I've expressed guarded optimism watch him break in half within six months.

Didn’t Brett Lee reckon that Israel Dagg was the best NZ bowling prospect he saw on a coaching trip he did here 10-15 years ago? Maybe it’s for the best, it was hard enough watching one generational talent succumb yo alcoholism.
