*Official* England in Sri Lanka 2021

Was like some kind of weird tribute act to all the worst batting performances in history.
I'm honestly struggling to remember a worse batting performance in recent memory. India's 36ao and England's 67ao were down as much to excellent bowling in somewhat challenging conditions as any thing else, and some teams have simply been blasted away. But like... what the **** was that? A state second XI could have done better.

Was it worse than England against Roston Chase? Probably.

They batted like this in SA too, but got more shots away, and had little phases where they tried to play proper cricket and stay out there.

This was just like they cbf playing. No application whatsoever.

You can also somewhat forgive SA because of the extreme circumstances and the massive disruptions from all the injuries, and they were away from home. This is batting first at Galle.

Why do they need Mickey Arthur for this? They must be paying him and the rest of the staff big money. They played some Lanka league shots. Maybe the coaching staff is trying to get them to finish the test match in 2-3 days, didn't matter which team wins.

That said will still wait to see England bat. They're not as flash as their bowling.

The BBC's summary is amusing. Seems to pretty much nail the consensus:
  • Sri Lanka bowled out in 46.1 overs
  • Bess 5-30, Broad 3-20, Leach 1-55
  • Succession of poor strokes

Hopefull Dom Bess will be their Number one spinner for next years Ashes tour. Is that the" BESS" England can do.?

Stupid batting.

Why can't these clowns keep the high risk shots away and just bat for 2 days and kill the game off?
